a good free one would be the default PDF reader built into the device. email yourself the PDF and you are good to go. As to a third party app, I havent looked into them but you could search the third party app section here.

but the build-in...let's say u have a file consist of 800 pages...and if you dont have accessed over the air signal like an underground, it won't download page by page.

i wish someone come out with a third party free adobe reader...pocket pc and palm have them...why not bb?

I'm betting an 800 page pdf isn't going to be useful on the blackberry even reading it from a memory card. I recall trying on a PPC, and trying to search or quickly page into a big pdf was useless. Maybe things have changed. Don't know.

an 800 page pdf would take a long time to render on a full PC let alone a mobile device.

You'd be blind by page 100, there's no need for an 800 page document.

Yeah, seriously, if someone wants me to look at a letter quick like, it is no problem to open an read from and email attachment. If someone emails me a huge doc, it can wait. I'm just not going to try and carry around huge doc's on the blackberry for reference. That aint what it's for.

Well, playing devil's advocate - if I could come out with a more capable pdf reader, what possible motivation could you give me for providing one - AND supporting one - for free?!?! As for why there's one for pocket pc and palm, but not for BB - maybe because there IS an OEM included one on the BB but not on the others?

I can't barely see the font on using that viewer,
The Preview was ok, but as soon as I zoom in, the wording just become a jumble of boxes.

yeahh i hear what maximus is saying... on the native BB pdf viewer, the overview looks fine but as soon as i zoom in on the page its so blurry i can't read any of the writing. I'm guessing it has something to do with the oiginal resolution of the pdf somehow?

After you zoom in, click enhance from the menu..?

thanks shayne... that does help out a lot. still frustrating though that after you enhance the section, you can't scroll to see more at that zoom level. you have to go back, select another spot, and enhance again.

Anyone know if paid pdf viewers are the same? i may have to consider that if there are any inexpensive viewers available.

This is not a perfect nor permanent solution, but you could convert PDF files into an ebook with the free software from MobiPocket and view it on your BB with their free reader ....................... Did I happen to mention it's FREE .............. and actually works pretty good.

This is of course is only useful if you are at your computer; sorry but I can't help you out with the email side of things.

Here's a another solution if you really need to read a PDF file. You can email the PDF file to your Gmail account and view it as an HTML. It also works faster if your using the Blackberry Gmail App.
