This has been driving me crazy for MONTHS now......

My BB Messenger opens, sends messages (which are received by my contacts) and adds new contacts, BUT IT WILL NOT RECEIVE MESSAGES!!
My contacts will send me messages in response and at the bottom it says "Person is typing a message" but the message is not delivered to me.

The weirdest thing about it is that this problem was present on my old Pearl with Rogers, now that I have switched to a 8703 on TELUS - it STILL doesn't work!!
That's 2 different phones with 2 different service providers and the problem persists......

I am begging for some BB guru to give me some helpful advice here!!!!!!


(And P.S. - i have uninstalled/installed on desktop manager, deleted all service books and resent service books......)

check the firewall see if it is blocking the messages. Options > Security Options > Firewall

make sure PIN messages are not blocked. Also are you on BIS or BES?

My firewall is disabled and none of the boxes are checked off (Block SMS, PIN or BIS)

I'm unsure if i am BIS or BES - I can say that my old pearl with Rogers was a personal phone while this one is a company phone with Telus.

Ideas?? I will be eternally grateful to anyone who can fix this problem....

can you send PIN messages and receive them without using BBM? just go to messages > compose PIN and send to the contact.

I can send them ok, not sure if i can receive..... that has always been the problem

Why would I simply not be able to receive messages on bb messenger when my PIN-ing seems to be working everywhere else?

ok, you should receive the invitation to add when you launch the app again. This was fixed. the OP uninstalled the App and Reinstalled then was able to send and receive messages
