Are you going to a corporate store or an authorized dealer?

I just called my Tmo store rep upon ready your post and he told me that his are already shipped to him. He checked the tracking number with UPS and everything. Due to arrive in his store tomorrow and be sold on the 30th.

He did explain that for two weeks no dealer is going to be selling them. They wont be available until the 15th for those outlets.

I talked to 4 different stores now in Houston Texas. These are T-mobile stores corporate stores. They all said that they received email that tmobile.com, tmobile CC, and other online retails will have it for Sept. 30th, but stores aren't due to have them until Oct. 15th. Although One store did say that it is not the end all be all, and thinks they will have some by Thursday. I'm hoping so...

it sounds like a market specific problem. Chicago has them so I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that it was a mistake and they have them too.

I just found a store that has a working demo, and might have more to sell.. He is going throught the boxes now. Plus he still hasn't received today's shipment. I can't believe that the 4th largest city in america doesn't get counted as a big deployment site for a new product... Oh well. Thanks for all your hoping it may just pay off.

I just checked our SAP inventory management, and Atlanta, Georgia has 1 demo and 25 RIM KIT 7100T in transit even as we speak, hell, I may even go in to work early today... like I need to spend the money. I just submitted the account request to add BB service to my primary line, and I'll just double up the (low employee plan) pay for a couple of months to see if I want the 7100t to replace my phone and also my BB and it's entire line and plan... It's gonna be fun, and a little expensive, dammit!

Incidentally, you do realise that even with spacing, the keys on the 7100v are larger than those on a blackberry so its unlikely that they would be too difficult to press since I don't think anyone here has trouble with a blackberry.

If your thumbs can't press the correct key on the 7100t 99% of the time then I'd suggest a diet.

I didn't say i couldn't press the correct keys, simply that just like on the existing blackberries the gap between the keys and their solidity makes it noticeably quicker to type on a 7100v than a 7100t, don't get me wrong the 7100t isn't terrible just not quite as quick as the 7100v.

Irrelevant. A laptop needn't be powered to understand the play and useability of its keyboard. Same applies here.

Irrelevant. We are not comparing the 7100v to "a blackberry" we are comparing it to the 7100t which has larger and therefore more useable keys.

I've found that it took a good hour to get used to the new keyboard. At the typing test site, I'm about 80% as fast as I used to be. I miss all of the shortcuts from the older BBs, because I was very adept at editing typos and typing "nonwords", and doing both is much more time consuming using suretype.

I called Customer Service and ordered the 7100t without a new line of service and without the $35 activation fee. All I had to do was to extend my committment 12 months and move my current Tmobile SIM to the BB next week when I receive it. Price was $299 plus sales tax minus $100 rebate (free standard shipping).

P.S. I'm also in Houston and gave up on the store route as most said they wouldn't receive the BB for a couple weeks.

Uh, no...

The rebate form clearly states that it's only valid on NEW activations and it needs a copy of the new service activation for the rebate to be valid...

Looks like you are out $100 :(

Not irrelevant, just having a little play around cannot compare with extended actual useage and you are an idiot if you think that.

Larger yes, more useable no, the keys are far spongier and tend to rock about needlessly if you type near the edge of a key, whereas the keys on the vodafone are more useable due to their solidity and the spacing around them.

I would beg to differ. I had one and returned it, great on service and no problems, but the keys were small. I have a 7520 from Nextel and in addition to phone/email/web/bluetooth/pda/speaker/backlighting you have the benefit of the Nextel direcconnect, great for work or talking to the wife without racking up minutes. It is larger, but I feel a better phone.
