Default 8200 or 9100???

Please Login to Remove!

I have read that there will be another BB that will be similar in size to the Q and will have a camera. I believe that they are designated as either the 8200 or the 9100 or maybe both. Has anyone heard anything more about this? Is this going to be something that maybe Cingular will be the first out with? If so is it possible that either will be out by year end?

I read that info already but did see some other info elsewhere that showed one unit with an updated camera and one without. Both are supposed to have more RAM. If cingular is not going to have the 8100 it is possible to assume that they are waiting for an updated version already in the works that would be ready in time for the holidays.

I wrote this on the 8100 Cingular thread:

"A Cingular sales manager confirmed with me today that that the 8100 will be available Nov. 14th as well as an upgrade to the 8700 shortly after, I'm assuming he's speaking about the 8705?

Take that for what it's worth. It wasn't just a rep so I believe him a little more than I normally would.

He told me this when we were talking about me going out to TMO and buying one of their 8100 and unlocking it perhaps. He said not to bother and stick it out with the 8700 until Nov. 14th when they get the 8100. I asked him if he was certain that was the date and he said yes with the newer version of the 8700 coming shortly after.

Again take that for what it's worth."

Not sure whats up with the 8800, I've heard conflicting reports.

The qwerty version of the 8100, camera or not, will not be available until late Q1 or early/mid Q2 of 2007.

I was digging around and found this info:

So, I guess Boy Genius is not wanting for new information to drop in our laps on the daily. Herexxx8217;s his latest tidbits of accurate rumordom:

Therexxx8217;s a new BlackBerry on the prowl and itxxx8217;s called the 8705. Whatxxx8217;s its story? Well, it looks to be a standard 8700 with HAC (hearing aid compatibility) and some minor GSM/device modifications. Perhaps it utilizes some of those patents wexxx8217;ve been telling you about.

Now for a much bigger piece of info. Remember when we told you about the 8200, the full QWERTY version of the Pearl? Well, it turns out that itxxx8217;s not the 8200 at all, but actually the 8800 (code name: Gamma-Ray). Unlike its SureType counterpart, however, the BlackBerry 8800 will have no camera (paving the way for at 9100 version with camera, we guess). This can and might change, but as of now it will be thin, have a trackball, WiFi, microSD, and will not be released before the end of this year.

Pretty big news folks. Of course, wexxx8217;ll let you know if any other words of wisdom drop from the BGxxx8217;s mouth.

I wonder who will get the 9100...............im guessing Cingular and Me!

considering the source is one of our own and he's fairly connected (and I personally know him and his credibility), it's not a website's opinion based on rumors gathered here. there's been very few rumors from BG that have turned up empty over the last 1-2 years - this encompasses the BlackBerry community as well as many others (Motorola, Treo, etc). BG volunteers here at BBF, and has been a contributing member for quite some time prior; he is also a contributing writer for Engadget, as well as having his own real-world job (not in telecommunications) that birthed his passion for cellular technology and his passion for BlackBerry.

i'm not doubting BG's info at all... its the line "paving the way for a 9100 version with camera we guess" that i'm saying is the website itself just taking a wild guess.

Just got out of a Product Road Map meeting with our wireless reseller (I use Rogers here in Canada eh). He has confirmed that Q1 of 2007 they will release the 9100. It is the QWERTY version of the pearl and will have the camera, mp3 playback, mini SD slot...etc. It will be their flagship enterprise model and priced accordingly.
