I think we'll be waiting for a bit for a 8700 on verizon. I know that I have sent some emails that some of the words were messed up due to sure type. sometimes I send without proof reading. Then I go back and look later and It's all jacked up.

Lots of different rumors about this floating around. Latest I've heard is late summer 06 (end of August?). Time will tell.

feel the thrill. go to tmobile. their support is better anyway. IMHO. i just upgraded from the 7100. love my 8700! Tmobile puts it out in black and a little slicker case design. i like it much better than the Cingular version our company guys are getting.

I tried asking Verizon tech support yesterday and they said they didn't know when the 8700 was coming out.

Ditto, and knowing Verizon I would say fall is more like it.

Well if you guys take into consideration on what the "sprint/nextel" posts for the sprint cdma 8700 are saying,a nd that it's a no brainer both companies are cdma, they said that the sprint version is coming out in September. Hopefully that would be an indication on when, where and what RIM is doing for a CDMA version of the 8700 series.

Either case, I've lost faith in sprint releasing new phones. It seems Verizon has got the upper hand and exclusivity contracts to get the new phones first! So we can probably expect them to either get it first, that or at least right after sprint gets it, if by miracle they beat Verizon to it. hah!

Only time will tell....

Once Quallcomm get's the cdma radio built for the 8700 i think it will take vzw 6-12 months to test the device....

Where can I go to review the spec's of these two models (7130e vs. 8700) side-by-side?

I am curious to see the difference in spec's.
TIA,
-BassKozz

EDIT: Nevermind, found it: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/com...%5D=&id%5B%5D=

Looks like the differences are:
7130 = slightly smaller
8700 = 1 extra hour of talk time + 8 extra day's of standby time
8700 = Larger screen size
7130 = GPS / ????
7130 = ringer profiles
7130 = ringer ID
7130 = SureType

I can due without the ringer profiles/ID and SureType, but I would like to have GPS functionality, any idea's on why this feature has been left out of the 8700?

Unhappy 8700 keys to little for fingers

I had the 8700 with t-mobile and returned it my big fingers kept hitting the wrong buttons. The 7130e has bigger keys and I was able to type pretty much without hitting the wrong keys. So for me I guess I'll be with Verizon alittle longer. What is taking so long for the EVDO in my area. Pin# 300E61B5
