Default Transferring E-mails/Texts from old to new BB

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB 8700g on T-Mobile (uk) and had the 7290 model. How do I transfer all the data, address book, SMS, e-mails from that phone to the new one. All I have is the basic 4.1 Desktop software provided by blackberry. I've backed up my data from the old phone today but need all this info on the new one. Is there any easy way to do this or will I need to get more software.

BTW I've already configured the new phone to accept new email messages, that isn't a problem just want the backed up data on the new phone I have

Thanks in advance

Backup and Restore xxx8211; Replace device databases with the corresponding databases saved in an existing desktop backup file.

I have a further question on this. I assume to restore the data I have to change the PIN number under Redirector to get the new BB to be recognized by the Desktop Manager. Is this right?

Will this also transfer third party applications (e.g.- Pocketday) or do these have to be installed from scratch?

Thanks

can you please explain in a little more detail this process? sorry in advance for my stupidity, but does this mean backup the "old" BB first, then hook up the "new" BB, make a backup of that, and then replace the database files from the "old" backup to the "new" backup and then finally do a restore operation on the "new" BB? Or do I have that wrong? I am not familiar with the backup/restore process for BBs since I have never used it. thanks!

edit: also, can messages be moved between 2 different devices, for example a 7250 and an 8703?? this is what my user needs to do....

Yes, you summed it up properly.

Also, with Desktop Manager 4.2 (the latest version) there is utility called "Switch Device Wizard" which helps you easily move data from one BB to another.
