Lightbulb Next BB or BBC unit?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey All,

Ok here is my story, I am a long time phone geek and my first attempt at smart phones was a 1st gen iphone. For business I needed to get push mail and Outlook meeting request ability so I got a 3G iphone but that didn't work at all for my needs at work, so I got a 8320 from the states. It does what I need it to do but the UI is mickey mouse and the keys....oh the Chiclet keys... But i cant complain (too much) it does what I need it to do and it does it well.

Now I want to change, I have looked at the Bold, Javelin, and Storm. The Bold looks like basicly the same as the 8320 but with a tweek or two, Javelin - no 3G... Storm - cool but not a huge fan of the virtual keyboard (too many mistakes on the iphone for me to take during business use)

I am looking at some o the BBC product, E90, N700 etc.

Any Ideas on what I should get in the future?

Well, since you've ruled out a physical keyboard and a touch screen, maybe you can just carry around a desktop pc with voice recognition software so you don't have to type at all....

Thanks for the reply, I meant that the keyboard sounds like crap on this but I still want a physical qwerty board

Or the Storm for 30 days- it is said to have a better tactile feel than the Iphone.

Um... well, if you don't like the UI on the 8320, you're not gonna like it on any other Blackberry either. They're more or less all the same, with some tweaks for different OS versions and different themes.

Default Sync issues!

Hi
I use an 8700 and have just upgraded my IT and now use VISTA. I find that when I sync to Outlook, via my Desktop Manager, my Blackberry defaults in Date/Time to Eniwetok (which I correct by resetting to Dublin, London (GMT) and re-syncing which corrects all the times in my calendar. The other anomaly is that I lose all the previous entries in Calendar, for only the immediate past week, from the Blackberry but they remain in Outlook! Anyone got any suggestions as to how I can correct these 2 issues?

And also search the forum for an answer first. There is a ton of info on this forum- see red search button at the top^^

Try these Threads which I found by searching "Eniwetok ":

Yeah this is pretty much what I thought / saw from looking at some youtube stuff...that is why I was thinking about a Blackberry connect client on another handset, but I am a little skeptical of that.

Cheers

Blackberry Connect has never been as good as a real Blackberry. And now it's a disappearing program altogether as RIM no longer wants to support it. With BBC, attachments were always a problem, especially forwarding them (it won't). Wait for the BB Storm, pick a theme that you like, and see if that does it for ya.

Also, as far as the BB Bold, the keyboard has a totally different feel from the Curve's keyboard. If you really don't like the Blackberry OS, take a look at a Windows Mobile device like the MotoQ.

I actually got a Bold Yesterday and I like it so far, the os is a little more polished and I really like the keyboard, a lot better for typing.

so I guess I decided on the Bold for now, after talking to a developer at RIM who told me that 8900/Javelin will not be released with 3G until about April 09 and that the Storm will be a sweet consumer device but with no WIFI...I decided to get out of the 8320 while the getting was good, it's value would hit the floor when the 8900 comes out in Q4.

Thanks
