If you get your mail from these accounts delivered to your berry device do you need to sign in periodically from your PC to keep your accounts active? I believe hotmail says you have to sign in every 60 days or they deactivate your account.

You can not do it on Hotmail unless you sign up with them before they got a new policy (which was several years ago) or you have a paid account over there.

As for the rest, that's a good question.

I sign in periodically anyway. I've not seen that restriction in GMail, though.

Aren't you logging in everytime your BIS server is speaking with the mail account?

I dont think there is a restriction with gmail, I have one account with them that I have not logged into for about 12 months. I use it as a spam filter and forward mails to another account.

Google is finding some other way to generate revenue. I believe microsoft is looking to display you ads in a web browser in exchange for free email hosting. Can't see the ads if you don't use a full browser on a desktop computer, right? This may help explain why they don't allow forwarding, pop3 access for free accounts (I don't understand why they don't allow forwarding the the paid plus accounts, though).

I've only run into this with Yahoo. But my Hotmail account is a legacy account and GMail never mentioned this. I've gone weeks without logging into GMail but I do POP my account on my computer so that may count as a login.

I've gone weeks without logging into my hotmail account and still counting. Still receive my messages. Aren't they supposed to send you an e-mail advicing you of such policy?

When you sign up for the account it says that after 60 days of "no login" you're account will be suspended. Ok, when you receive email from yahoo, let's say, can you log in and see that mail on your pc and your bberry at the same time? when delete one it deletes from both devices? thanks for the help. I hope we can get clarity on this one.

That's a good question. I wonder if that's the case.
