what is real soon? Can we expect 4.3 by end of Sep?

Allow me to introduce myself - adp21 here - originally from the US but recently moved to Bombay, India as an expat

Tons going on in this part of the world folks - its like witnessing a miracle everyday!

Been following this forum for the past year or so - just been too lazy to post! Hats off to all you regular members - have solved many a harrowing issue with my BB, thanks to you folks

BTW - just for the record - have used treos, windoze mobile (both 5.0 & 6.0), symbian and I keep coming back to BB - incredible little piece of work!

I hope carriers provide their own version of the updated O/S because it is generally not very smooth when O/S from another operator is installed on the locked device.

That is really not true. RIM produces the updates and the carriers release them as they become ready to support them. Just because an OS is from another carrier doesn't mean it will not run smooth. Likewise, just because an OS is from your carrier doesn't mean it will run smooth.

Most of the time, the later the OS the better it is. The two exceptions to this are

1. 4.2.0 was smoother for multi-tap on the Pearl. 4.2.1 (all versions/all carriers) have double letter issues.
2. Curve OS's later than 4.2.2.67 will not allow a browser on the TMo network.

I have been running other carrier's OS's on BB's for 3 years and haven't had issues.

Just curious: what does 4.3 do that 4.2x is lacking? Is there something that doesn't work correctly? Unless you're being facetious, you make it sound like your Curve isn't functioning with the OS you currently use.

Well, for one, the BB browser is still POS. Any update is better than no update.

YES I totally agree.

Its about time that we stop mentioning it here in the forums. Type up a smart response and send to feedback to RIM.

Are they going to announce the release of 4.3 or is it just gonna pop out just like when the 4.2 was released for the 8700?

I am now curiouser by the minute about the new 4.3 OS - must know when its coming out.....

BTW - just as a side note - did y'all read about the possibility of our dearly beloved MSFT buying out good ol' RIM?

Geez - if that every happened, we can all say our goodbyes to all that we hold dear about our Blackberries today....
