Default Company tracking

Please Login to Remove!

While my company does not provide my phone, I am required to have BES to access my company email on my phone. With BES, can my company track my gps location, facebook app activity, BBMs, text messages?

Then they can't track your location.

If you are that paranoid, get a company BB and remove your personal one from the BES.

Considering the level of control IT policies can get on the phone, if the company requires you to have BES they should supply the phone.

Disagree. BYOD is becoming a much more popular and accepted concept.
Even RIM understands this, which is why they have made new IT policies specifically aimed at users with personally liable handhelds.

BES can now wipe enterprise data only, leaving the user's personal data and settings intact.

The ability to separate and wipe enterprise data is good if you want to voluntarely activate your device. But if it is a requirement of your position, why would you want your personal texts, BBM, etc be logged on the company servers.

In my opinion, the company should make it clear to the end-user what they log, and why they log it.
It should then be up to the user to decide whether or not to activate based on the company usage policy.

In the OP's case, it is voluntary on the user's part.
The company isn't requiring the OP to activate or force their email on the handheld. The OP requested it.
The way I read it, the company is just saying if you want corporate email on your personal device... then it must be via BES.
