Just plugged in and got the update notice...in progress now.

Does this one do anything with wi-fi? I'm having trouble connecting to my old wireless router...can't authenticate. I'm wondering if the security encryption protocols on the router are outdated...

Downloading.... we'll see what's new.

Installed and running fine. Just fount out that this update was mainly to address a security issue with flash.

Apparently the big item was fixing a Flash security hole...Adobe released a fix for Flash earlier in the week.

The update provides some other things besides the Flash fix. This is the info displayed with the update.
Quote:
"This version offers improvements to the software update process and video chat, adds new languages, provides a security update for Adobe Flash Player, preloads Facebook and more."
The browser seems faster, GPS works better now.

Question for everyone.

I was in the process of getting the download .2342 when screen went black.

I am now unable to get the screen back on. Tried plugin with ac power, tried pressing and holding the power button.

What happened and how do i fix?

Thanks everyone....

I tried last night (the playbook alerted me to the update) and it failed 3 times.

I tried twice this morning and I keep getting "unable to download software update".

I really wish that we weren't prompted for a "new" OS whenever we delete a built-in app or icon. It seems foolish to me.

Sorry I can't help, but maybe to clarify: Were you downloading by Wi-fi, or were you using a USB cable to attach to your computer? The upgrade screen says you mustn't interrupt the process or risk making your PB unusable...if you were using Wi-fi, possibly you lost the signal briefly?

There's a 90-day tech support line for your Playbook...I'd be calling that in a big hurry.

I have encountered that previously and the way out is to download through your Blackberry Desktop Software. That works perfectly anytime you have an update.

I finally did the update last night via WiFi and both the download and installation was effortless. Took less than ten minutes including the reboot.

No problem whatsoever.......

I downloaded and installed the update two days ago...had to download it twice, which may have been a momentary disconnect in my broadband connection....second time it downloaded and installed fine.

My assumption is it was defect fixes to the prior download, but....does anyone know for sure what was in the patch?

Interesting....even though I installed and updated the patch, my PB continues to want to download and install it...having an error each time it goes through the cycle.

Are you downloading the patch via wifi? Are you losing your signal?

Has anyone else noticed that the time is displayed wrong on the "Home" screen? I am in Saskatchewan (-6) I use 24 Hour time and I have it set to Set Date and Time Automatically.

On the Settings screen it shows the correct date and time, but on the Home Screen It is 1 hour ahead.

It's correct for me. There's a thread here on the forum started by someone with a similar problem, but their time wasn't off by an even number of hours. There are one or two threads on CB also.

The forum member here ended up reinstalling the OS, I believe.

I would point you to the thread if I could. But my advice is to force an OS reinstall with Desktop Manager.
