Default Waze - Free Turn-by-Turn Nav

Please Login to Remove!

I'm surprised I don't see mention of Waze here. It's a great new free Nav app for BB, iPhone, and Android. It provides turn-by-turn voice prompts as well. One of the really nice features which is only useful if a lot of people use Waze is real time traffic based on your speed. There are also features that allow users to easily post traffic info, speed traps, etc. Definitely worth a look - www.waze.com

Looks interesting. You must have to install on your phone and create a login. I don't see it on the site. Think I'll eat some dinner and then play with it.

Thanks.

This actually looks pretty cool. I like the aspect of real time traffic info. Obviously it's going to use a lot of data. How is it on the battery and does it slow down your device?

I had a look at the site, and at the maps. Coverage appears extremely limited right now and appears to completely omit Canada (and the rest of the world). If this is true, though its functionality may be useful, until the coverage expands, it appears to be useless unless you are lucky enough to be in one of the areas covered by the service.

Tomjs,

Waze is being developed by an Israeli company. I believe coverage is very good in Israel and most of Europe. US is just building out now. The weak link is traffic coverage since that depends on people using Waze while driving.

Very interesting. I like that it is available on multiple platforms. That will certainly help build it's programming quicker.

I am downloading it to give it a go......Damn, maybe not. There is not version for the Storm :(

I just downloaded the app and tried it anyway - that map does not do it justice. It actually appears to be fairly good, though I already found one location that it misplaced. However, in general it looks not too bad. I will try it out a bit and see how it does.

The on-line documentation is focused on touch screen versions of the software. Does anyone have a list of the commands for the Blackberry version?

VonnerNIX,

Take a look at this thread - waze.com • View topic - BB Storm Touch screen version - Feedback please. It links to a Storm beta.

I downloaded and it seems like a great concept, unfortunately it appears I'm the only person in Hawaii using this app.

I downloaded the software yesterday. Overall it is pretty good, except the turn-by-turn instruction voice is too low to be audible during driving. Anybody has same issue? How to fix it?
