I would simply just like to add my input.. Been using Adam's GSMPhoneSource for over 2 years now. And every single time it's always been speedy. And actually has gotten faster now over time. Only ran into an issue one time when I had an 8300 from a launch party ...but even then the issue was resolved on what was considered "unable to be unlocked"..lol. Now GSMPhoneSource offers the UNLOCK-NO-MATTER-WHAT option for like 54.99 I believe. Amazing little tool.

Adam..

ROCK ON!

I want the 8310 because of the GPS function that tmobiles curves dont have. Would putting my sim card into the 8310 make it work with an unlock code? And is it hard to unlock it yourself? Ive never done it before.

I don't really get it....I asked T-Mobile for an unlock code yesterday and I got it today. No big deal. Why exactly do people pay for this service?

If you buy a locked phone from AT&T or even T-Mobile and then call in to request the unlock code, they'll laugh and giggle at you if you're not an established customer.

This was my case. I wanted an AT&T Curve 8300 which was not available in any form on T-Mobile for a long time, so I bought it at an AT&T store without any contract and got GSMPhoneSource to retrieve the unlock code for me. Not sure how he gets it - I don't care how - I just want it done.

I've been an AT&T/AT&T-blue/Cingular/New-AT&T customer for over 10-years. I called 611 one evening last week, asked for the subsidary unlock code...and didn't give them any BS story about going to Europe (they've heard all that)...and got the code within a couple of minutes.

Took a whole 5-minutes max to unlock it.

Why do T-Mobile and other providers charge their customers for this? And...why are these companies bilking bucks out of BB owners pockets when those customers could be doing it themselves for nothing?

Davis, TMo doesn't charge you for the unlock code for their devices. Maybe someone here stated that, I missed reading that. You got your unlock code the correct way. However, there is also no reason for your BB to be unlocked seeing whereas you are on AT&T and not headed overseas. Should you just want it unlocked, ya got it.

However, were you to put yourself in another user's shoes... not ALL users have been with their carrier for ten years. Most carriers, as AT&T does, requires one to have an account with then, in good standing (no outstanding overdue balance) for 90 days.

Thus, unlocking services provide a service where carriers won't. Likewise, for instance, this spring I bought an AT&T branded 8800 to use on TMo. TMo won't unlock AT&T phones, and at the time I did not have the AT&T account, so I purchased the unlock code for $20 from a vendor.

i wasn't bilked out of my bucks. I received exactly what I was willing to pay for, and happy to get it. I don't understand how you think the customers could be doing this for nothing.

Default got mine

Good news i got the code from adam 2 days ago just before going on work abroad.
So gsmphonesource : reliable (delay was same as given by my operator and price cheaper) but maybe giving the customer some feedback about delay (average is said to be 2 weeks) would be the plus that would make gsmphonesource a great site.

I just got an AT&T 8300, so I just placed an order with GSMphonesource.com. Hopefully it'll come quick, I can't wait to mess with the new phone!

I bought a curve 8310 on craigslist to send to my brother overseas, it is locked on AT&T so I pretty much have to use an unlocking service. I just submitted my order with unlockblackberry.org .. didn't know about gsmphonesource until after I placed my order and started googling around .. sorry Adam
We'll see how long these guys take to unlock it.

Well, I sent my request yesterday around 6:30pm, and I just got my unlock code around 12pm (EST). Very quick turn around, thank you!

Now I just gotta figure out how to get my old info over to the new phone...

Not bad .. about a 10 hour turnaround.

Quick question, in the unlock screen there's a message that says (10 left) above where you enter the unlock code. Any idea what that means? I'm assuming it means you can only unlock once for each different carrier's sim you put in? I was under the assumption that when you unlock a phone, you can then use it on multiple carriers .. the "10 left" message is a little confusing ...

It means if you put an invalid unlock code in 10 times you are out of luck. The BB will be locked for all eternity.

Once it is unlocked it will work on all carriers.
