I just upgraded the software on our Pearl and Curve phones (version 4.5.0.138). Now, the backlight takes a couple of seconds longer to come on after pressing the trackball. I don't think there is an issue with storage. The Curve phone shows that it has 42 mb available. It doesn't appear like the applications are slow, but just the backlight issue.

Have you tried a battery pull to see if that has any affect?

It should speed up after a minute or so. I always find mine to be slow after a hard reset, but then goes back to normal. It's just like your PC loading stuff up.

I have done a full battery pull, and the phone is still having delay when pushing trackball.

I have an 8130 also, and this seems to have been plaguing many OS's since as far back as anything newer than 4.5.0.88. You should go to the 8100 discussion. Since this lag is only present after pressing the ball, most people just deal with it by pressing the back button (or any other button). It's hard to get used to at first, but eventually you just do it. It's annoying, I know. But that's the way it is.

Edit: maybe it was introduced back in 4.5.0.131... can't remember exactly.
