Default Question on calls using Wifi @ home/UMA

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

Just got my new 8320 with T-Mobile and Data plan(Dont have T-Mobile Hot spot @ home), I got connected to my home router(Netgear) and I am seeing UMA next to the signal, But I am seeing the calls being charged from the whenever minutes. Do I need to add the T-Mobile Hotspot to my existing Plan.

I see all the minutes in the usage as a type (U) -Hotspot and I dont why they are deducting those minutes from my plan.

Can anybody please comment on this? I thought when connected through a router and whey you see UMA on the screen, you can call without charging your minutes from the plan.

Thanks,
Ravi

Without the Hotspot@Home calls DO get charged against your minutes.

To not have them get deducted, you must subscribe to Hotspot@Home. That's the way it's always been.

UMA simply means you are making a call over the WiFi; it doesn't really mean much about how it is billed.

^^ Exactly. I have plenty of minutes on mine but don't get the greatest service at work or at home now. Problem is, UMA doesn't work as well as you would hope on this phone. Coworker just picked up the G1 and it works great but I keep getting disconnected and stuff. I was also having issues with seamless transitioning from UMA to edge on the old OS. Haven't tried it with 4.5 yet though.

Try assigning a static IP on your phone. That helped on the 8220.
