Default OS: 9520 5.0.0.721/5.0.0.436 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.721 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.721
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.436
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.189
* File name: 9520M_PBr5.0.0_rel721_PL4.2.0.189_A5.0.0.436_Vodaf one_UK.exe
* File size: 124.06MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...05D7C424EBAE5F

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9520:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Nice, thanks.

I've been using this OS for several weeks now, it is a recommended upgrade.

Cool. Anything new other than bug fixes and memory leaks plugged? Any changes for battery time and startup?

Nothing specific new, that I can think of.

I just have not noticed any bugs, it's been working clean for me.

Bigboss,

1. You have a Verizon 9530 device and this is a 9520 operating system release.

2. Regardless of the above, you download the OS, and THEN install the OS file to your PC. If you don't see the vendor.xml file, then you haven't
a) Installed the OS to your PC.
b) Are not looking in the correct folder for the vendor.xml file.

That's about it.

Hi guys. I have been using this new software for the past one week and it seems to be a very stable one. Having said that I am experiencing one issue though and that is with SMS threads. In my address book I have two different relatives who have almost similar cell numbers except that their same service provider code (Mobilink gsm) which is a four digit code is different. One have 0300 while the other one have 0301. So when ever I send an SMS to one of these person and receives a reply back from that person then if the next SMS is to the other person with similar phone number but slightly different vendor code then the SMS thread keep on showing first person name. This also happened with my bold 9700 but then the problem got fixed in the subsequent software releases. This issue never happened with previous versions of blackberries running software other than 5.0. Would appreciate of any forum friend have a work around to this issue. Thanks and cheers

Maybe I missed it, but does this work on the 9550 and is this the successor to .428?

Nevermind. Didn't realize the 9520 was GSM.

Hi. I have bought a Storm in the US, previously a Verizon. In Norway I have to use an old Software 4.7.0.230 because of our GSM system. Does anyone have an answer on where to find an updated software that will work here?
