Hi Hyper7PCR,

I just gave Ryan some instructions - you can try doing that as well. If it does not work please report back and I will investigate further.

Thanks,

Eric

Well, I did the instructions for "Cingular Orange".
I don't really know the difference in Orange and Blue??
I assume I am Orange.

Now I get "Fetch error: could not open tunnel-failed"

2. APN: wap.cingular
Username: [email address]
Password: CINGULAR1
The result: Fetch error: could not open tunnel-failed

3. APN: proxy

I called Cingular today...

Told them I was having problems and that when my co-workers had the same problems, it was resolved by adding

"The wap.cingular plan, or WIX Data Connect service"

He said he would check everything...
30 seconds later, he told me to remove the battery and put it back in. I did that, and now everything works.

Not sure exactly what he did, but that is all I told him.

Thanks to all for your help...

Also, I am using this setting:
APN: wap.cingular
Username: [email address]
Password: CINGULAR1

Did you ever have an opportunity to test compatability with Rogers? I can't seem to get it to work using my rogers acc't name.

Default Sorry for the delay...

Hi crawford,

Could please try now? We seem to have located the bug and implemented a server side fix to remedy the problem.

I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you – we have been swamped with the APN issue that your request was delayed in getting resolves.

Please let me know how it turns out.

Thanks,

Eric

Default Perfect!

Hi dominguezh,

I am glad you like it! Let me know if there are things you want to see in the Version 2 of the app and I will add them to the list. I love getting feedback and everyone has such cool ideas - it really makes it rewarding to hear back from people who like what we are doing.

Cheers,

Eric

Hey, good job. Works like a charm on the public album I put up on my Rogers / Yahoo acc't. I could see this coming in really handy. Not to mention it's a great way to show off the 8700's screen.

Thanks for all of your help.

Default Glad it worked out for you!

Hi crawford,

I am really glad it worked out for you. In version 2 you will be able to access Public and Private Folders on Yahoo using JiveSlide. You will also be able to choose a photo and then save it to your device and use as Wallpapers and the like. The nice thing is that the picture will be exactly the right size for your device.

I agree - the 8700 looks fantastic with pictures - especially when you are showing someone a picture that is of interest to them.

Cheers,

Eric

Default I am not sure I understand you.

Hi Stinsonddog,

I am not sure what you mean? Is there a data charge to save the photo to your BlackBerry or to access your public and private folders? I know we have no plans for charging for any of this. As for the user, it is between them and their carrier as to how they get charged.

Could you clarify just so I know I am not missing the point of your question – or maybe you are not respond to my previous post.

Cheers,

Eric

Default The way you have set it up to access your network

some of the other threads talk about things being included in the data plans and others not. Is this an internet or data connection for Cingular. I assume it's internet but if its data it will cost alot.

Default Thanks for the clarification

Hi again,

I know that with JiveSlide we are using native HTTP to call out to our JiveSlide server. A question for you – why do you think they charge different rates for whether it is Internet of Data connection? What makes one more expensive than the other on their end? The carrier world is a very odd world to me.

Thanks for the clarification,

Eric

Default Ok so I loaded it

Works great. No configuration needed for me.

Tell me what influences the speed the most?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to move to the next photo other than the trackwheel?

To answer your questions - BB Unlimited Plans ususually get you unlimited email and internet browsing using the provided browsers.

Use as a modem is usually an additonal data charge. Seems like some IM clients might use a data connection too, but not sure.

Default Other pictures Sites support in the future

Hi Edewhirst

I was wandering if you plan to add support to other piture sites, such as www.fotki.com, in the future. I keep all my photos on that site, it is very convenient and got a huge user base.

Thnx

P.S. Got the software and it works great. Great job.

Hi lordshark,

I am glad you like JiveSlide. As for support for fotki – we will look into it and see if we can. Thanks for the tip.

Default Next release of JiveSlide

Hi Stinsonddog,

The next release of JiveSlide is scheduled for the third week of January. We have been experiencing some issues with users getting 401 errors and Bad DNS which has eaten into our development cycles. There is this mysterious black box as it relates to Internet access – some have no issues and some have big issues – both using the same devices and the same carriers just in different parts of the country.

As for your earlier questions – what influences speed the most – really it is just bandwidth. If your source images are huge it is irrelevant because we grab the image and then scale and reduce to make the most optimal size so as to decrease bandwidth usage. Also your questions as to being able to move through pictures – The “P” key moves you forward and the “Q” key moves you backwards. We don’t make that too well known because people tend to hammer the keys and then a fetch error occurs. We have no control over how many HTTP threads can be spawned and sometimes the BlackBerryOS gets finicky about all that.

In any event – a new release is coming – look for it mid January.

Cheers,

Eric

Does changing these settings impact the regular installed browsers?
