Default Process for moving a user to a new device

Please Login to Remove!

What is the exact procedure? Delete the user and re-create, then activate? Simply send a new activation password to the original user? Our setup is completely wireless.

Yep. You can reset the EA password and have the user perform a new EA.

If you have Desktop manager installed on the users workstation it is really easy as it would ask you if you want to switch upon connecting it with USB...

IMO, the best way to do it is just set the Enterprise Activation password for the user (I usually set it to something really easy - like the letter a) and then have the user perform the activation on their new device.

If you remove and re-add them on the server you wipe out all their settings (font, options, password keeper data, etc). I only do that as a last resort.

We have had mixed results reseting the Enterprise Activation password. We see the most problems with device hardware jumps. Example user has 7250 and is getting a 8830 reseting the Enterprise Activation password hardly ever works. The user must be deleted and recreated.

That sounds odd. We upgrade user devices all the time - going from 7520, 7100i, 7130 to the 8830 (even upgraded one guy from the 7510 just a couple months ago).

I have the opposite - I rarely, if ever, have to remove/readd the user.
