Terahble: Go ahead and give it a try. Just make sure you print and follow John's instructions to a tee. I did this, and I'm a 59 year old grandma!

Okay, I ran through this guide (which was pretty easy for a BB newb like myself).. However, out of all the vendor cod files I moved to the Removed Module folder, only one theme (105) was removed, I'm on VZW, is that the only one that's physically installed on my phone then?

You probably only had the Dimension themes and the Verizon theme to begin with.

That's what I figured... I went from about 10mb to almost 19mb.. I'm happy with that... I'm not sure how people squeeze 28+ mb out, lol..

Which theme(s) *have* to be loaded so that you do not get the black & white, bare-bones look?

Dimension? Zen? Today?

Thanks

Default What can I do to restore this process after a wipe/reactivate on BES?

My company's IT group had me wipe and re-activate my 8310 on BES because it stopped syncing the address book w/Outlook due to a re-build of my profile.

I did not want to do that due to extensive customization and following this process for creating free memory. It is wiping now.

Can I do a restore of my backup after I wipe and re-activate, so I don't have to re-do all the freeing memory customization that I performed by editing the .alx files?

If not, can I just copy the edited files back into their respective folders, and if so, which ones do I need to do that with? I'd rather just do a restore of my backup.

Thanks in advance.

When I cleared the Dimension Theme (1.8mb) I ended up with the black and white look...

Hope this helps...

Got my answer---everything now works AOK after a wipe and BES re-activation. The best part is that ALL my customization and 3rd party apps were retained, including the steps I took to free up memory. I even have 8 more mb free than I had before!~

What about all of the net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_chinese cod's? Can those be removed along with the french and spanish equivalents?

And these?

It's all pretty much the same in Vista. Saving files sometimes doesn't work the same. If you edit the BlackBerry.alx file you may have to save it to the desktop as a new file and then move it manually back to the original folder. Otherwise, it's the same.

Plus, if I were you, I'd upgrade your OS to something newer than 4.2.2.170

Well... 4.2.2.170 is what came with my BB, and I only have a generic data plan (NO BB plan) and I'm afraid my browser icon will go away.

You can at least update to TMobile's latest. If your browser (most likely just a TZones browser) disappears you can gripe to them.
