Hello,

I just download webmessenger and i was able to create an account but i cannot actually log onto any of the messengers. everytime i try to create/edit an account via the IM networks link I get a message saying "updating of aol(or yahoo or msn or icq) username/password unsucessful. if i click on IM networks, all of the networks read "n/a". the main page shows all of the messengers as offline with the little "X" on them.

can someone help me? it is driving me crazy!

Are you trying to use your existing AOL account. B/c thats what i tried and i had to create a mew AIM account inorder to login.

If your Nextel is new (less than 2 days old), you need to wait for Nextel to fully provision your unit -- The TCP/IP stack may not work until about 48 hours after initial activation.

In the meantime, you may wish to test an alternate networking application, such as the trial version of Reqwireless or VeriChat, as a troubleshooting measure. (i.e. to eliminate the possibility that the fault is in WebMessenger)

If you continue to have problems, try calling Nextel (Which can be a challenge in itself, in knowing what the right magic words are, for saying to the rep on the phone.)

thanks for the help. i have had nextel for about 5 years and the aol account is an existing account. I will try to use a new screen name and see if that helps. so far nothing else has.

Have you tried installing the WebMessenger PC client? (It comes free with a WebMessenger Blackberry license.)

I have found it easier to add buddies with the desktop client. Also, it is a good way to see if your failure to connect to the WebMessenger server is due to a problem with your Blackberry, or a problem at the WebMessenger end.

Also, the WebMessenger PC client is a handy way to connect to all four IM services when you are at your desk. It is very much like Trillian.
