Default Battery Strip - White or Red x's?

Please Login to Remove!

My trackball stopped working, so i called Cingular Warranty they asked me to check the strip on my battery to see if it had red x's on them (which it does). they said if i had red x's it was probably exposed to moisture. the problem is i ordered a new battery online and when it came it had red x's!!

so does your battery have red x's or just a plain white stripe?

Red x's mean the water indicator has been tripped. Where did you get the battery from? If your trackball doesn't work press down real hard and spin it, there may be lint or other things stuck, blow it with some canned air to try too, but yeah crosses do mean the water indicator was tripped.

There are 2 water sensors on the Pearl, one on the bottom of the battery and one on the phone. I have attached pics to show both. Neither have been tripped by water.

Well... my water sensor doesn't look anything like your's on the battery section... canon. I heard that there are two types of sensors on the battery though, one that has red X's and if tripped a stripe going across. Mine is a white sticker with a solid red stripe going across, if tripped would red X's appear... or would it turn entirely red?

Same situation and question. I've been wondering about this.

I'm not POSITIVE but I beleive any red at all means it has been tripped. Can anybody confirm this?

Mine on my battery has a fat red line running across it. I figure maybe I touched it with my oily hands or something. I've heard people say they can be tripped pretty easily and not to have your phone in the bathroom when taking a shower and stuff like that.

there are 2 different battery moisture indicators, the one pictured above, and one that is white on top and bottom with a solid red bar thru the middle. The indicator pictured, when tripped, will lose the white background and turn a pinkish color. Depending on moisture level, all the x's may disappear and leave a solid pink/red indicator.

The white/red indicator will lose it's white top and bottom section, and it will turn a pinkish color, and again, depending on moisture level, it may all be a redish color.

Hope this helps

I think thats because it is an after market battery. It has nothing to do with the phones warranty.
