Default In-Holster / Out-of-Holster - how does it know?

Please Login to Remove!

Sorry, stupid question I know, but how does the 8320 know if it is in holster?
I mean with reference to the alert profiles.
I carry it in my pants side pocket, no holster or protectors.
What if it is in my hand?
Is it a light sensor? a capacitive sensor?

It's a magnet. You can feel it in the sleeve at the bottom front of the cover supplied with your unit.

There is a magnet in the OEM hosters (don't know about non-OEM holsters) that 'tells' the device when it's in the holster.

are you saying that the 8310 and 8320 come with holsters? While the 8300 did not?

AT&T doesn't include a holster, or anything else to carry the Curve models. I am currently using my old holster from my 7100g until my new holster arrives next week. But if my Curve fits into the 7100g holster with the Speck hard case that I'll have tomorrow then I might get a new 7100g holster and return the Curve holster that I bought.

There is a gnome that when it is inserted he comes out and hits a switch secretly known to himself and the other members of the blackberry holsters turn off society

Depends on the kit!

Some 8310 kits donot have that sleeve! Typically the business kits do and the consumer kits do not. I believe though that most kits shipped now are business. But I have seen kits in my store with it and without

Wow. This question is like Blackberry 101!

I remembered I asked this same question years ago with the 6230. That one had a monochromatic LCD calculator screen. Mad old school son!
And I still see people with those models on the subways sometimes. Now that is keepin' it real!

Latest shipments of the Curves from AT&T does come with the pockets slip holsters!

My 8310 came from AT&T and did not come with a sleeve. And they were out of holsters when I got it, so I ended up buying one from a T-Mobile kiosk when I went shopping with my mom a few days later because the AT&T store at the mall we went to didn't have any in stock either.

Ha, funny. My AT&T 8310 I bought Thanksgiving w/end DID come with the sleeve.

Tip: I use one of the silicon skins on my 8310, and it fits WAY too tight in the 8300 holster, but it's a perfect fit (with the skin) in a 8700 or 8800 holster.
