I tried searching but couldnt find anything too useful...having said that the problem:
I currently have 4.5.055 on my bb 8330, I downloaded the latest release package i could find, which i believe was 4.5.077, and i cant seem to upgrade for some reason...i followed the steps, by running the executable, deleting vendor.xml, connect the phone, (it only shows me the option to either repair/uninstall), i chose repair, it does some work with the green status bar flying across the screen, but my phone still has the same apps version, and still has the delayed answer issue....
You need to use the Desktop Manager to do the upgrade, for what you said, sound like you are just running the install again, that won't load the software to the device
1. Install Desktop Manager on PC
2. Install BlackBerry Handheld OS on PC
3. Delete Vendor.xml file
4. Launch Desktop Manager
5. Connect BB and you will be prompted to upgrade to the new OS.

Geez if it can be explained this easily in summary, why the heck do we need all those silly details in the post that guides people through these tedious upgrades?
