Default Setting ringtone for contacts

Is there no way to set ringtones for the people that call you?
I know how to set it for the profiles I pick, but I'd rather be able to set individual callers as different ringtones so I know who is calling me.
I have a T-mobile 7105t on a corporate system.
Also, what is the benefit of asking them to unlock my phone?

Don't know if your phone supports this but try this.

Go to the Profiles Menu and select New Exception. Enter a name for the exception and the one or more contacts for From. The change the options for Use Profile and Custom ringtone for the exception, then Save it.

Hope this helps.

This feature works perfectly on the 8700...one more reason to upgrade.

I have my ex-wife's numbers set to play: "All My Exes Live in Texas".

Go to Profiles, click the trackwheel and choose New Exception, then set the criteria you like. You can use several contacts for each exception you make if you like. I have one ringer for my parents, another for my wife, one for each of my kids (songs they like so I know it's them), and one for the girl I have on the side (shhh). It makes life much easier!

There is an easier way as well than the method Seattle18 outlines.

Go to the particular contact in your address book> click edit> click "add custom phone tune" > change option > select the particular ringtone to associate with that contact.

If you want to delete the ringtone associated with that contact then edit the contact and highlight the custom ringtone field and select "delete field".

The problem with this method is that with the earlier versions of 4.1.0.xxx OS, the default "Use Profile" was Normal, and you couldn't change it. This meant that for the exceptions it wouldn't follow the active profile if you wanted it to. Don't know if later versions have corrected this bug or not.

Hope this helps.

I have this working fine on my TMobile 7105T using the 4.1 code.

In the Profiles screen, select Advanced and add the exception.

Good luck.
