Do you have encryption mode enabled?
Also, if you haven't already, try a battery pull -- remove the battery with the device powered on for about 30 seconds.

I posted this in another thread about a similar situation. Is this at work on a networked PC? Your BB usually tries to take a Drive Letter that is already in use by the network. The network won't release it while it is in use. Even though you get the notification bubbles saying your device is connected, etc..., you will not see it in your Drive list. You need to log in to your computer WITHOUT connecting to the network. Let the PC establish a connection with your BB- it will pick the drive letter, then REMAP this connection to an unused letter. then restart your PC with the network connected. Now you should have your Network drive AND the BB will pick the mapped drive you chose.
Oh, and it may be the same thing if you have a USB drive already connected- it won't take over an existing drive.

Have you tried putting the card in a reader and connecting directly to the pc? It might just be a bad card.

Store Card
It only comes up if I put it in a usb reader, so the card is good.
It is a 4GB sandisk micro sd
Its the blackberry that is not appearing as a mass storage device. It is a pain to have to keep taking the store card out and transfer my videos, then put it back into the blackberry.

While your bb is connected to the pc, go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager. Expand the Universal Serial Bus entry and look for a yellow question mark or for your bb. Right click on that entry, delete it, then unplug your bb, reboot the pc, then plug in the bb again and it should rediscover the device and recognize it. Hope it works!

There is no question mark. It is listed. It is recognized(in device manager), it just is not being recognized as a mass storage device.

Delete it anyhow while it's still connected, reboot pc, then connect bb again and see.

That did not work at all. I do not think it being recognized as a usb device and as a usb mass storage device has any connection. But I did try what you said.
No one seems to have a definitive answer on this subject. Not even RIM.

did it rediscover and install the bb after you deleted? Is it assigned a drive letter in My Computer?
And how many drives are already connected in My Computer?

If locked the BB should ask for your password to enable mass storage mode.

I have a similar problem. plugged in my BB and PC said it was looking for drivers. came back with a can't find them, device might not work properly. I cancel out of that but the BB/sd card is mapped as a drive. this goes on for, well, the three weeks I've had my curve, I just cancel the pop up every time I plug in. today I'm not thinking and click on okay or install or whatever it said and now the drivers are magically found and it is "properly" installed, except now the sd card will not show as a mapped drive.
I do not have DM or any BB OS software on this computer, I don't really want to link to this computer in any way, just use the card like the floppy disk it is.
No passwords, not locked, no encryptions, mass storage enabled.
I think installing DM on the computer may be the answer, comments?

I just installed DM on the PC, that did the trick. there is an option to download just the usb and modem drivers but I didn't readily see an english version, probably didn't scroll down enough. I think that would have worked just fine too.
