Default 4.5 ATT Getting close, it appears...

The ATT software for Blackberry download page now lists DM 4.6. and if you go to that "Update" page at Blackberry, the apploader program it installs will update to the latest version. It won't load 4.5 yet, but it does load the latest version of itself. So I'm assuming any day now.

yeah, I saw that this morning, too. It's about flippin' time! I'm still too unfamiliar with the Blackberry OS to use another vendors 4.5...afraid I'll brick my 8310. Do you know if DM 4.6 is needed to load 4.5 onto the device?

I loaded os 4.5 with DM 4.3, but didn't know what I was doing at the time. Still don't know if it makes a difference, but if at&t has 4.6 why not use that? It did work though, and I haven't had any problems yet.(fingers crossed)

No, I don't- but I'm sure when the push out the update it will be similar to the the other carriers and it will load through that Update thing, load the apploader needed, then probably recommend updating to the latest DM.

At least that's my .02...

Default New BB User

Hello gang,
My first post!
I have no clue to what I am doing with this new BB 8310. Trying to figure it out as I go, I am offshore (Gulf of Mexico) so I do have time in the evening to figure things out, but out a bit too far to use my unlimited data plan. I think that means internet¿ Anyway I am out here on an oil platform about 150 miles out, texting still works as does the phone (AT&T Extend).

Any way, what is the difference between the current version and this new version that is coming out? I know this has probably been talked about a great deal, but I am not up to date with all the post on this forum.

I would love to be able to watch youtube video's on my phone, but can not, I would like to be able to record a short video or something, but like I said, I am totally new to the BB, so anything you could tell me about this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
PuJo

No, DM version 4.6 is not required, but I would suggest it as it is a better version than DM 4.5.

There is no reason to be afraid of "bricking" your BB by loading another carrier's OS to an ATT BB. I honestly don't recall reading any users here who have bricked theirs doing so.

I loaded v4.5 on my T-Mobile and Verizon devices using Desktop Manager v4.2sp1, with the v4.3 USB drivers added on..

No problems.

I've read various problems about upgrading using a generic OS, Very few if any "bricked" the phone- mostly lost themes, the html mail thing didn't work (resend service books seemed to fix that), along with volume glitches with .55, that seemed to be fixed with the later ones. And once in awhile random re-boots linked to the media card. But folks seemed to take it in stride and get it worked out eventually.

And for pujo- Video recording is enabled, as well as access to youtube. Improvements to the browser along with html mail. Those are the highlights- plenty of other posts giving specifics here and on other boards.
