Jibi,
May be a dumb question, but I will ask. Is there any significant differenc in the 4.1.0.300 OS that you mention here from the 4.1.0.256 OS that can be downloaded from the Hong Kong CSL? I have the Hong Kong 4.1 CSL OS running right now.
Thanks,
Blue

I'm just loading it now, personally. I know it removes the Cingular theme, so if you use it (I do), I wouldn't advise upgrading. Aside from that, I'm not sure on the bug fixes, functional changes, etc.

I am on TMO so I have no problem with no Cingular Theme. I am sure it will be posted all over eventually but let me know if there are any glaring fixes in with this release.

One thing I'm noticing now as I'm activating my phone back on the BES - Enterprise Activation now says 'Activating ' rather than simply 'Activating...'. EA is also seemingly much faster to initiate (I'm not paying attention tho, so maybe its just the 'tricks').

Sounds good. I am not currently on BES so I am not sure if anything will be an "update" in comparison to what I am running now.

There should be a way to get the cingular theme back....Jibi, you posted last year sometime a way of removing the vendor codes (100=Tmobile, etc.) from the blackberry.alx file to allow the themes to get installed. I used that method with the 4.1.0.256 CSL OS and now have lots of OEM carrier themes....I think I extracted some of them out of the other software versions, like the 7290 etc. I would assume that method would work to get back the cingular theme. I can't remember just exactly how I did it but it was your method of adding themes from a while back.

John, you can copy the Cingular theme from the .210 package (CSL), place it in the .300's Java directory, and then edit the ALX file and remove both the _vendorid="102" and ThemeSupport="Enhanced" tags from the Cingular 7100 line.
But my answer was to the effect of 'warning - don't do this unless you're ready to lose that one w/o some work' ... hehe.

Hi,
I am new here. If I wanted to install the 4.1 on my 7290 (T-mobile). Do i still have to delete the vendor's file? It is mentioned on a previous thread (3/14 i believe), but not on this one.
My other question is: would T-mobile be deleted of my screen if I install the new OS deleting the vendors file prior connecting the handset with the desktop manager?
Ok, I know this topic has been around for a long while and believe me i have looked around a lot the lastt 24 hours. However, i still need help!
Summary of my question: With the software that jibi has posted above, do i need to delete the vendors file still?
Thanks.

Welcome to the BB world!
Yes, you have to delete the vendor file because the above software is not from your vendor. It is from a HK vendor. Makes sense?
Also, no, nothing I know of will get rid of the TMO branding on your 7290. It will always be a reminder of the true vendor.

It contains Engish with Chinese character support which you do not have to install.

lost vibrate after update to CSL 4.1
after upgrading my Cingular 7290 to CSL ver 4.1, the vibrate function seems to not work anymore. I tried changing the profile to tone, saving, then back to vibrate with no luck. The tones also seem to be not as loud as before.
Anyone else had these problems and have a fix?

Does this version allow us to search for names directly in the phone app by typing in the name, without having to use the clickwheel?
Forgot to add that I'm on a 7290.
Edit: couldn't resist and tried the new version right after my post, and nope, still gotta click the wheel in phone app to search for contacts. Back to 4.0.2 for me.

Jibi, thanks, I've wiped it twice (server move was 1) but still no vibes. I use it because of the noisy area I work in and for meetings. The tone volume seems about 50-75% of what it was. I'm also using NotiFire. I removed that, rebooted, tested, wiped, rebooted, tested, reinstalled NotiFire, tested, still no good vibrations.
It's strange how many different people get different results from 4.1 even with same phone/same provider??
