Question E-mail Issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my Blackberry 8520 Curve as well as my girlfriends phone (exactly the same).

It's working fine ultimately, but the main issue which has come up and is starting to become a problem is that I can't compose a a new e-mail via the phone.

I can receive e-mails, and even reply to them, but if I try send a e-mail, there is NO option to send a e-mail.

I type in the e-mail address to send too, type in the subject, type in a message, try send and there is no option to send.

The software on the phone is v5.0.0.592

We've taken the phone to a few cellphone shops and they say they can fix this problem by doing a software update, but we are using the BB desktop software and there is no newer version and even so, they want to charge to flash the phone - now since the phone is fine, the software is the problem, this should be covered under the warranty (phone is new, not even 3 months old yet)

Can you guys help please or suggestion something please.

If there is a newer version of the phone software which will fix this problem, how can we update the software ourselves.

Have you resent the Service Books?

I have had this resent to my phone and after 'taking the battery out and plugging it back in WITHOUT turning the phone off' I can still NOT send a e-mail.

I can compose a e-mail but once I'm ready to send, it does not have a option to send.

The options available to me are:

Help
Save Draft
Flag for Follow Up
Add Bcc:
Attach Contact
Attach File
Edit AutoText
Options
Show Symbols
Switch Input Language
Switch Application
Close

No "Send" at all :(

See the yellow sticky at the top of the 8500 section. There, you will find the latest OS for the 8520 and the instructions for how to install it. Make sure you get the one for your specific model as it is device specific.

You are not seeing an update in DM because your carrier has not released their "official" version, but you can install any carrier's OS that you wish. Just follow our instructions on how to do it.

With your problem, what dis you do to both phones just before this happened? Download an app, install a theme, drop it?

Try reregistering using the host routing table. Do other RIM services work, such as BBM? And resending service books as M-M suggested might also fix it. But it sounds like you may not have a BB data plan on the account.

@Dubdub;

Phones not dropped or anything, nothing installed or uninstalled. The e-mail just can't send once you've composed it.

Everything else (such as BBM, web browsing etc) works.

Did you resend service books and reregister via host routing table? RIM did have a global data outage yesterday. Could that be part of the problem?

Hi Dubdub,

Nah, this problem has been on going for a while with both my phone and my girlfriends phone, but I didn't really care since I never send e-mails via my phone but lately she has been NEEDING to do this alot and to save her money, I needed to find a way to fix the problem.

Anyways, the problem has been fixed!

I upgraded the phones software to the latest version (as per one of the previous posts) and yeap, the "SEND" option did finally appear.

Thanks guys for the help hey!
