Default go with 9700 or wait for something better?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey All,

Wanted to start a little discussion, since I'm looking to upgrade.

Should I go with the Bold 9700 (AT&T), or is there something in the blackberry pipeline that I should be holding out for? I'm not too interested in the touchscreen bold that rumors have been floating around about, but I'm not completely against it...

Thanks!
Jared

Wirelessly posted (well lookie here!)

Not aware of too much coming down the pike within the rumor mills other than the Slider BB!

Not a fan of sliders either haha. I guess I'm pretty picky, but I've noticed I'm not alone in that regard!

My only problem with the 9700 is that the keyboard is just a LITTLE too small...

My advice would be to wait as long as you possibly can. Almost every time I buy a new piece of tech, something I would have vastly preferred comes out a month or two later.

Wait until the Summer and the Rumor Mill will be alive with all the goodies that are due out this Fall.

I have the 8700 and have been due for an upgrade since March and the best I can find out is the 9700 is getting a white version this summer.

I'm waiting until at least the first week in August before deciding.

i'd get the white 9700 personally, as i think that would be one of the best looking phones out there. i think the new slider and the flip blackberry phones look pretty shitty to me. i have an att bold and im loving it.

Eh, white blackberries don't do it for me... Can't take them seriously. I do like the white iPhone though -- if I wanted an iphone.

I ended up going with the 9700 -- LOVE it. Got used to the keyboard in < 5 hrs.

I guess it depends on how soon you need to scratch the upgrade itch.

It seems every time I wait nothing good comes out but as soon as I HAVE to get a new phone I get it then something good comes out that I might like better. Just can't win...

Hold off for the new slider...if you see it and don't like it, then go with the Bold. Worse case if that the new slider drops the price on other BBs so you save a few bucks.

Seems like RIM has no antidote for the Iphone 4G.. I hope they realize that their advantage in market share will not last 4ever. Hate the iphone personally but I have had 2 9700 for a while now, time for a new phone! Come on RIM!

The new iPhone 4 is not 4G it's still 3G! On my second 9700 also and can't wait for the 9800.

I've got the 9700, I changed from an iPhone. Rogers just dropped the price on the 9700 to $99. So that might mean something new is coming very very soon, or it could be in anticipation of the new iPhone.

I'm in a similar position, except I'm with T-mobile. I'd like something with a bigger screen, but there's no indication that T-mobile will get anything like that anytime soon. It's the main temptation to go to Android.
