Atomichelix Notify! for BlackBerry

This is a *very* small application written because internally someone wanted to save an email as a note for future reference, went to do it (assuming it was in the mail application menu), and it didn't exist. It's under 4k and all it really does is allow you to, from the mail list menu or the mail view menu, save a copy of the currently selected mail message to MemoPad -- simple as that.

Enjoy! (It's free. Feedback appreciated )

Strange. Ok, we will modify it once I can get my hands on 4.5.

Worked just fine for me, first time on 4.5.0.42 (8310). 3 thumbs up for this nifty little application!

Wait a second - I think I read that BB will soon be dealing with real HTML e-mail and Web pages - but I don't think (simply because I didn't see it mentioned) the Memo Pad is getting HTML - so what happens when you use this to save an HTML e-mail to a just-ASCII memo pad?

Seem to work fine on an 8830 with newest OS.

I guess I would like to know why it has the name it has??? It does not "notify" it copies NICELY an email to a Memo.

Well, it's a play on words.... "Note"-ify an email. You know, turn it into a "note".

As for the HTML emails, we'll see when it's generally available. Without access to it to test it, we can't say what will happen for sure. For all we know, you might have access to HTML emails in their MIME parts in the BB API for 4.5. If that's the case, it would just be a matter of stripping out the text part and using that to save the note. Can't say for sure until we see the API and the OS.

Thanks... we're just hoping some people would find a use for it. It's not something you'd use every day, but I've found myself using it about 2-3 times a month. The original developer did it because he got directions in an email and wanted to save them, while adding his own comments to them. He was surprised when he couldn't do it without just cut and pasting the whole email, which was cumbersome. So, he put together this small app to do it what he thought the OS had built in.

If this guy has some more time on his hands ..... I would love something similar that can copy a Contact to an Appt/calendar. For example, I call my doc to schedule and appt. It would be great to be able to hit a menu key (like Notify) and have an option - copy to Calendar and it copies the contact info over. Now you would have to manually select the text, copy it, open the calendar, paste it.

that would be cool, I suggested another one to remind OS 4.5 users when they record voicenotes.

We're currently putting the finishing touches on our PGP application (Atomichelix PGP for BlackBerry) and once it's out it will need some dedicated resourcing, but we're hoping to have a few cycles to make small, free apps like Notify. The plan was to get about 5-10 of them and put them into one application (thus, we're not too worried about the "Notify" moniker, as it will eventually be replaced with a "collection of commands"-type application), so if you have any wishes for small thing like that, let us know and we'll try to get to them.

Again, our priority is the PGP application, however.

Ah, that's too bad. We'll fix it up for 4.5 if we're able to (via) the APIs and once we've got 4.5 as a development option. Sadly, it's still only 4.3 as the highest version available for the JDE.
