Hey guys-- Need a backup phone for a few months... I'm looking to revive my BB 9000. The trackball, volume up/down, and left convenience key seem to not work well:
-The volume keys work, but don't 'click'
-The left convenience key clicks but doesn't work (keyboard lock)
-The trackball gets stuck
What should I be buying? Just the bezel? new buttons? midplate?
Do you know why they aren't working? Did it get wet by any chance?
No, no water damage. I think just the fact that it's been sitting in a box for over a year. The volume rocker works, but the buttons don't 'click' if that makes sense. the left side-key clicks fine, but doesn't seem to perform the task I have it assigned to.
My 9000 volume rocker has never "clicked". And the trackball assembly is an easy replacement if you know what you're doing, have the correct tools, and are patient.

thanks devnull -- what do you think about the left side key? it's definitely set to Keyboard Lock, but doesn't seem to lock when I click it...
Not sure what caused it, but I definitely left it in good working condition for a 9700. Just did a warranty exchange on the 9700 for an android phone and regretting it. Figuring I'd rather go back to the 9000 than sell the android on eBay. With the build quality issues I've experienced with various 9700s I dont trust I'd get a good one on eBay Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
