Default Major Mistake

Please Login to Remove!

I tried to upload the latest software OS but ran into some problem and now my blackberry screen won't even turn on.

Actually it does, but it just shows a white background with a 507 number beneath some X-ed out sign.

I don't know if anyone know what that is, but a battery pull isn't doing anything. I'm scared that I might have ruined my phone!!!

How can this happen!!!

Help!!!

You didn't ruin anything just reload the OS. error 507 just means that there is no operating system.

but won't they say it's my fault for trying to upload an updated OS even though I was trying to do it from their website?

And will they send you a refurbished one?

That is normal because the PC can not contact the Java OS on the device. Download the handheld software for your model BlackBerry and install it to your PC. When the install completes launch Desktop Manager or Application Loader. Follow the prompts to install the software to your BlackBerry. If you need more specific directions search the forums.

507 simply means there is no OS software on your device. It's a simple fix.

1. Install Desktop Manager if it's not installed already.
2. Download and install the latest Pearl OS from here. It's a version released by Cingular but will work on any Pearl:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4
3. Delete the file "vendor.xml" from c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and run Desktop Manager.
5. From the connections menu at the top select USB.
6. Run Application Loader.

The OS will reload on to the device.

I was on tmobile website and it said I needed the latest Desktop Manager Software 4.2.0.14 Is this what you mean on point one or do you mean the cd that came with the phone?

GOsh I can't even get past your first point. I'm hopeless...

That version of Desktop Manager will work fine. Also, you can use the TMobile version of the OS that is on the TMo site, if you wish, but it's older than the one I linked for you above. I have a TMo Pearl and I run the Cingular version above and have no problems whatsoever. It's all the same stuff just the newer versions have more bug fixes.

I got up to the last point where you said run application loader, but I get to a message saying Device Application Selection and I can't choose anything? Do I need to be connected because the desktop manager says I'm disconnected.

Restart Desktop Manager and Application loader; make sure all of the items you want (tasks) are checked off.
