Question Which Browser for 8100

Please Login to Remove!

Which browser do you use on your 8100. I was using the blackberry browser and just switched to Microsoft Pocket. Seems to organize things on the screen a little better. What do you think?

You're using Microsoft Pocket IE on a BlackBerry? How did you do that? I thought it was just for Pocket PC.

Me too. Opera mini isn't great. It's sloooooww. Its largest font size is still teeny-tiny; only bolded website text shows well. Its start page suddenly lost the default Google search and replaced it with Yahoo search; can't figure out how to change it back. In general, it has almost no user-manipulable settings. Organizing bookmarks is hellish; moving one to the top of the list requires endless button pushes. I would say I endure it, more than enjoy it.

Unfortunately, it seems to be the best one available for the Pearl.

Can't wait till Minimo comes out for Pearl.

Opera mini is ok for most things I look at, however, it doesn't handle my online banking (Washington Mutual). For that, BB Internet browser actually works nicely without even emulating IE.

To the first post my blackberry came with five browsers. Openwave wap , netscape , MS IE , MS pocket IE openwave gateway and blackberry. To the second opera mini has a bar at the top and bottom so makes an already small screen smaller. And yes they replace google search with yahoo.

I think the OP is referring to the BB browser's emulation modes.
Open the BB browser, menu button, options, browser configuration, emulation mode.

HTH.

There was a press release a while back about Opera switching from Google to Yahoo!. There is no way to change it back. Too bad. I like Google better.

You only have one browser. The Blackberry browser can emulate those other ones. Meaning it is still the Blackberry Browser, it's just identifying itself to websites as a different browser. Sometimes websites format differently depending upon the browser it thinks you have.

I didn't know you could take those bars at the top and bottom of opera. Thanks. And I did think those others were browsers not emulation modes. But so far MS pocket IE seems to format the best. Thanks guys.
