Default What is push email?

What is "push" email? I've read a few posts about the iphone and how people are not into it because RIM still has the push email. It seems like I want one, but I don't know what it is? I thought it was simply the ability to read all your emails at the push of a button?

I have Tmo not Cingular. I heard the push email is only on Cingular.

I know, I know...I'm a noob.

Email automatically shows up on your device with no action on your part. You don't have to go anywhere to download or "check" email.

Let me guess, someone at a phone store told you this.

ALL BlackBerries and many other devices have push email. Cingular does not have an exclusive on push email.

With other devices you have to log onto a site or do something to just see if you have email. With a Blackberry, you know you have email because it is "pushed" to your device and it either vibrates or sounds an alarm to let you know it is there and ready for you to read.

There is no better, period!

Thanks for the responses. But I did hear something about the Pearl was exclusive to Cingular.

Thanks again!

Perhaps you are refering to "Push-to-Talk" capability?

I was. Thanks for the clarification. This is not meant to be a long drawn out iphone debate, but will the iphone have "push email"?

I read somewhere that it will. I am sure apple will put what ever they can to make it compete with everything.

Does not matter if the iPhone has push email or not. It has no keyboard except a touch screen thing that will be a pain in the A$$ to use for writing or answering emails. The Blackberry isw not threatened by the iPhone. Mayube the SideKick feels threatened but not the Blacklberry
