Hello

I have a BES v5.x server will all the components and database running on the same server as we have around 150 users in total. we would like to setup BES on HA mode. Please suggest how many additional servers are required to setup the same.

You would need 2 BES servers and 1 SQL server. That's the minimum. If you already have a SQL server for other purposes, you can use that one.

is your BES server a Full version or an Express free version.

only the full one supports HA

Yes we have full version of BES ....

And we already have a SQL database cluster running ... do we have to install anything on the database server for BlackBerry or its just mounting the database ??

you install BES in HA mode an have it connect to existing database as mentioned in the manual

Nothing special to install. You can optionally install the

Blackberry Database Notification System

on the SQL server, see more details here:

Cannot install "Blackberry Database Notification System" on the shared database server as it is running other critical databases .... but we can always mount the database without this addon ..... any idea how many disk IOPS are required for blackberry database for a setup with 300-400 users with and without " Blackberry Database Notification System" ?

No, but we have about 150 users and it is working well without DBNS. And our DB cluster is handling a lot of other DBs as well.

I have never used DBNS and even RIM said they did not use it in their environment.

Do you have this database on a dedicated disk or on a disk that is used for other databases as-well?

The DB is on mirrored storage along with other DBs.
