Default 7100r and Bluetooth

I was very disappointed to notice yesterday that If I flip out the boom on my HS850, that the bluetooth doesn't automatically turn on, on my BlackBerry. My v600 used to do this no problem.

So my question now is if I recive a call, for me to pick it up on the headset, I need to have had already enabled bluetooth and then flip the boom on my headset. What if bluetooth wasn't already enabled does that mean I cant pick up a call on my headset?

I have an HS810 and once I had paired the headset with the BB once it will recognize the headset once the boom is opened. You have to make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on the BB and once you have paired the headset (Settings/Options/Bluetooth/Add Device) you go into "Device Properties" and scroll down to where it says "Trusted" and change the option to "Yes" Once that is set (an bluetooth is turned on) you can open the boom on the headset and it will connect automatically.

But Bluetooth has to be enabled right? With my v600 I didnt have to enable it, when I flipped the boom, bluetooth turned on and the headset connected.

So if I don't have bluetooth enabled, how would you pick up a call on the headset?

Of course Bluetooth has to be enabled. If you don't have it enabled, then you don't have the ability to answer a call with the headset.

That is so disappointing. If you keep bluetooth enabled, it drains ure battery right

I have had no adverse effects on battery life with bluetooth enabled (icon on main screen). I find it hard to believe that the V600 automatically turns bluetooth on and off when you open the boom on the headset. I imagine the default setting is to have bluetooth on. On my BB, as soon as I open the boom, the headset and phone connect and i can answer the call, the rest of the time, bluetooth on the phone is not active (i.e. not constantly searching for other bluetooth devices).

That's the same way my v600 is. It won't search but it's ready to go. So if I enable Bluetooth on my BB and it's got the HS850 as trusted, it won't be searching when the HS850's boom isn't open?
