I think the user was asking for help, so that he would not be unsure. Hence the question.

Jeze...OK

Basic steps for using this install version of the Bell 4.7.0.122 Update:

First go into your C:\ Drive and locate your Program Files Folder (x86 for those running Vista 64)
Next, open the Common Files Foler>Research In Motion
There should be a folder names Shared (if there isn't see below)
Once in the Shared Folder you should see all the OS versions you currently have installed on your phone, find the most recent one and double click the folder, opening it to reveal two subfolders and a bunch of other files...
Those two folders are CDMA and Java
Once you have downloaded the Bell Files, extract them and cut and paste them in the folder you recently opened...hit OK to replace and overwrite the folders and files in JUST the CDMA and Java folders...
Next go back into the root folder and find the AppLoader folder, double click the folder and open the Loader.exe which will now load the new files onto your device...

(make sure to backup your phone prior to doing this via DM)

If you do NOT have a Shared folder

Find the most recent stable BETA OS version you have used on your phone (for me it was .114)
Install it as you would a normal OS update and there should be a Shared folder that appears in the Research In Motion root directory now...
Now simply follow the steps from above and you're set!

best of luck to you all

it's coool....

i've installed OS's several times on my phones, just wondering what ppl's experiences have been with this hybridization/technique....

i'm more comfortable getting the .exe installer instead of doing it this way, that's all....

sorrie, it was more of a general post, but i again apologize for being rude...
i get by off of using the search button hehe...so exucse my temperment...

at least this will serve as a method to inform other users that haven't been as well versed in modding their own OS files

I upgraded to .122 and so far so good!!

The phone is very receptive now, more so than with the .113 I had before.

although Bell (and/or RIM) doesn't want rouges like myself (a Storm user with a carrier that does not officially carry the phone) to upgrade my Storm with this OS, i had to try anyway, using the copy/paste method.

overall it went smoothly, but after sending an MMS, i went from EDGE-->edge. then i tried the MMS-fixed 122 flavor posted on crackberry....didn't resolve anything....

so now i'm back to .76 because it's the only official release i've seen work without hickups on my phone.....

one thing i did like is the full qwerty in portrait, nice addition. also that copy/paste box was neat.

I did the deed and placed .122 on my STORM. (prev. OS was .113) Took about 10 minutes. Results for me?
A little snappier overall... But camera most definitely faster/more responsive. Landscape/portrait transition seems to be the same. No MMS issues.

my 2 cents.

and for eddytheeagle... try this link for BBM: BlackBerry - BlackBerry Messenger

read lambdacoreaz's post (number 22 above).

Start with the part that says "If you do NOT have a shared folder".

If need be... check out the "beta you than me" forum for a stable (!) beta. (beta beauty is truly in the eye of the beta beholder).

I'm bored out of my mind right now, so I think I'll try this upgrade for something to do. :\

Well, so far everything performs exactly the same compared to the .144 hybrid I was running.

well going on about 15 hours since having upgraded now. Batt Life is much better than it had been. I am down to 13.1 MB right now. I noticed through out the day when I checked the memory free has fluctuated, with .113 I always saw it drop but never saw it rise back up. Still haven't done a batt pull since the 1st one after I upgraded.
Keyboard swaps from portrait to landscape much quicker. Going to the phone screen is much quicker than it has been in the past. No lag in dialing or going through menu from one app to another.

battery life +
memory (file free) +
camera ++
radio ++
ring tone lag from SD card is still there
browser is a bit faster than i remembered...

phone freezes when memory is low and battery pull must be done sometimes, but other than that, its decent and way more stable than the beta builds that have been floating around

i took the plunge...and decided to try out bbcrackman's v3.5.1....so i'm running a hybrid .122 OS on my 9530....

don't really like messing with hybrid stuff or doing it any way other than using DM/loader and an official RIM .exe installer.....

but so far i'm very impressed, very smooth and quicker than .76. full qwerty in portrait is nice too.

I just upgraded from 113 to 122 everyhting is much better and faster and many things have changed... the only thing that went from great to very bad is the video... it went from smoothe to super choppy can't even watch the demo movie that came with the phone. Rebooted and all... now have 35free mem from 25meg but want my smooth plyback back... wot to do?

Since updating to 122 I cant change my alerts sound. My Calendar, Facebook and one of my emails account don't use the right alert sound no matter what I put in the ringtones profile settings. My phone and one of my email uses the right ringtone/alert I entered. Also in the set ringtones/alerts menu the "try it" button make no sound, it vibrates if I specify it to vibrate and the LED flashed, but no sound. Anyone had this happen to or know how to fix this?
