I was just curious is anyone is signed up for the mailings at this site (Bb-Outage Info Page) and if they are helpful at all? I was looking at the BBOutages and BES-Admins mailing lists, do you guys think it is worth it?

The BB Outages list is really good.
Don't bother with BES Admins list. In my experience, it's a waste of time.
The BES Admin forum area here at BBF is far more valuable and a much better resource.

The outages list is well worth it for the network maintenance pre-notifications and awareness of potential and actual outages on carrier networks. And the most-excellent moderators of the list do a good job of keeping the "noise" to a minumum on the mail list.

The BES list is almost non-existent for traffic.

Yup, definitely worth it. Knowing when the maintenance is going to be is nice for me because most of it happens and night and I work night work so its nice to know they are working on the network and you don't go crazy trying to figure out why your BB isn't working.

Thanks for the info I'm definitely going to sign up for the outage list.

I'm sure it will come in handy when they give my own agency BlackBerry and they start calling me anytime they want lol.

There was a lot of noise at the beginning and it was to the point that I now park the messages on our inbound server and only check the mailbox when somethings not right.

It's ridiculous RIM doesn't have their own site setup for outages.

Why would they when someone else does for free.

Besides, neither does ATT, Tmobile, Charter, etc etc

I am definately on the list. There have been times I've found out about an outage and then I notified my carrier account team.

For the simple reason that it avoids unnecessary calls to the NOC which costs money.

Those calls go to the carrier first, unless of course you are RIM tech support customer, then you call them direct. And if you pay enough (I think tier 4 & 5), you get the notices from RIM (for free, haha).

Not so much new to the forums.... but I've been handed the BES to setup/manage. Besides I hate giving out my email address... So I just wanted to make sure it was worth it.

Some BES admins create a special outages only email address... so they get a different alert for them... like [email address], then on your BB, give it a special alert should something come across you need.

When there is a an actual outage , you will get a flurry of activity, and then it quietens pretty quickly.
