Default 8300 Bluetooth Issues

Please Login to Remove!

So, I have a Lexus and am a prior user of the Verizon 8830. The phone worked great, however, I like the form factor of the Curve way better. One problem, when calling from the Curve using my car as the BT headset, the phone doesn't give me audio until the party I am calling answers????? My 8830 did not do this. The 8300 just says calling and then it goes to connected after the party answers. It does not do this when using as a stand alone phone

Hi Cerge...welcome to the Forums.

I think you might get a better response in the Bluetooth Forum, so I'll move it there in hopes it helps you.

I have a 2007 Lexus and am considering a Blackberry 8830to pair with it. Cerge, it sounds like you got yours to work with your car. Correct? Lexus says that the 8703e works, but won't certify that an 8830 does, and I am trying to gather real-world experience.

What car?
The general idea (this works with a 8300 and 2006 lexus GS and BMW x5):
1) Make a new category: ie BMW
2) Enter a new list of contacts, with name, phone number (with area code) and attach each one to this category. Don't go nuts, this list will load every time you start the car. I would limit it to around 50. Also, try to limit the name characters to about 12. The key to success to consistency. One erroneous character and the list won't load.
3) Then, on the blackberry: go to OPTIONS --> BLUETOOTH
4) Highlight the device and hit options
5) Change "address book transfer" to "selected categories only"
6) You will now have a new line called Categories:
7) Bring the curser there and hit the Option button (the one with the dots) and select "Categories". Check in your new category and save.

Yes, you will have duplicate address book entries.
No, you can not attach the new category to an existing address book entry.
You can not have any other data. Name, phone number, category - Thanks all.

This process can drive you a little crazy. So, be patient. The BMW was a pain, it took me about 6 attempts.

I hope this was helpful.
