I am a 8707 user and recently upgraded the handheld OS to v4.2.2.122 from a previous v4.1.x (can't remember). I find that my Address book is no longer synchronizing with my Outlook Address (via BES) and the Address Wireless Sync option on the handheld is not visible. A colleague's similar device (same software) has it. Anyone knows where this option can be enabled or unhidden on the handheld? Help!
I successfully downloaded DM 4.6 and device software v4.5 however I am still unable to view html emails....the only thing from the upgrade I do see if docs to go....SOMEONE PLEASE HELP
I have an 8700c with 4.2.1.96 I followed the steps here to upgrade to 4.5, removed the vendor.xml file, then launched the desktop mgr and connected my phone. It didn't find the program, I even reinstalled it and tried it again, still no luck, just for grins I went to ATT site and loaded and older OS program from "them" 4.1 and the desktop mgr found it. Please can anyone help, is there a way for me to use the vendor.xml file from the older "real" program in place of the one from the other vendor? And I do have the 4.6 desktop software.

I'm sure you can. But why? Just use loader.exe after removing OS 5.0 from Control panel >add/remove programs. Then install OS 4.6 and make sure its the newest you have installed.
Thank you very much!! i fix my BB. with JL_cmder, and C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Shared\Loader Files\Apploader to reinstall the OS after download it from my carrier.
I've removed all my Alltel OS installs.
Installed ONLY the Verizon 4.5.0.138 OS from Verizon. I've deleted the vendors.xml file, and verified it was gone
Used LOADER.exe to downgrade my 8830 to 4.5.0.138
BUT ... when i turn the 8830 on, it is indeed 4.5.0.138 but it still says Alltel all over the place and is not the Verizon theme, etc.
What went wrong?
I used to have a Verizon 8830 that I was able to change to Alltel OS from Verizon, but using the same process i can't get rid of Alltel off this Alltel hardware??
Thanks for any inputs. I'm trying to hold off from using JL_Cmdr...
OK, I have seen this issue posted twice so far, with no comments about a solution. It involves an OS install/upgrade where the 'official' dl appears to be missing files for the core app to load to the phone. Personally I have run across this issue with the Tmo 4.5 release for the 8320. I found a workaround, but would like ton know if anyone has any suggestions on this issue. My main question is whetgher you can debrand a phone using JL_Cmder, and if once debranded, using a branded OS gives you a new branding or not. Once again, any thoughts or ideas, or is it experiment and see? =)Thanks in advance.
It seems you cannot "Debrand" a BB. I am trying to do the same thing. JL commander only removes the OS. the Branding is contained in the FIRMWARE which cannot be changed, sadly.
