Default Bes 4.0 - 5.0

Hi Everyone.
Please done bite, i am new around here and relatively new to the BES Scene.

I have been into BB for a few years, but only within the Past 12 month BES and BB Management were added to my job roll when our previous BES Admin departed the company rather unexpectedly.

So over the past 12 months i have don't my best to get to grips with BES from never having used it before; to doing day to day tasks within a medium sized business.

After a recent problem i have been in contact with Vodafone and they have informed me that out BES server is no longer supported as it is the older V4.0. (However they assisted with my issue)

Now i am usually a fan of if its not broke don't fix it.. However I feel for continued support we had best do the upgrade.
Now I have been quite lazy about this and Vodafone are going to preform the upgrade for us.
My initial question are.. Is there anything I should do to exchange before the upgrade (2003).. Also.. Where do i find my CAL number? It is a prerequisite in the Vodafone doc and i don't have a clue where to find it.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Also, is V5 much diff from V4 from an admin point of view?

Regards

Chris

Chris -

BES 4.0 and 5.0 are night and day. If it weren't for the words BlackBerry and RIM pasted throughout the application you'd never know they were the same ... I'm being serious.

4.0 had a very MMC look
4.1 looked like a real application
5.0 is a web application

That said, 4.1 was my favorite so far. Maybe I'll eventually like 5.0.

There isn't anything you'll need to do from the Exchange perspective. Make sure that you get a good backup of your BES and BESMgmt database before the upgrade however (just in case)

To get your CALs: KB10952 - Determine the number of client access licenses installed on the BES - Port3101.org : Your BES Connection
