Installing this OS for the 2nd time w00t! (Maybe 3rd?)

I'm sitting on the hourglass of death still. Jsconyers wanted me to say whether or not it worked haha

I'm wondering if any other tmo users have this OS and are able to get on MSN and such though? I've never been able to use OZ or the windows live on any 4.5 =/

A friend has a MAC and wants to upgrade the OS on her 8100 (T-Mobile).

I own a 8900 (T-Mobile) and have its latest DM software on my pc.(home laptop)

Can I download the latest software version for HER 8100 on MY laptop and then plug her 8100 in and upgrade her handheld?

Or will this turnout to be a nightmare? I know nothing about MACS.

OK thanks but is the "described procedure" any DIFFERENT than the one that I normally do for my 8900 on my PC and NOT A MAC.

Hey everyone, I am new here and have actually been reading into these OS updates for a while but I've always had a few questions, so I figured I'd sign up.

Will upgrading at all affect the personal things I have on the phone, such as phone numbers, ringtones, pictures, apps, etc?

Also, will there be anything special I have to do to re-sync my phone with T-mobile's network, or will it automatically find the signal?

I just wanted to be safe rather than just dive in and hope nothing gets deleted.

Thanks!!!

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

Everything will be backed up and restored with the exception of data in third party apps. If you have registration codes for applications you'll need to reenter them. All yout Tmo network stuff will still work. If you're on a corporate BES you'll need to reactivate on that.

Thanks, I installed it and everything works perfectly!

Now, here's the question: I heard that I need the latest "Service Books" to make it so I can view and download embedded email images? I tried to send the service books via the email settings, but that didn't work, and "Download Images Automatically" doesn't show up in "Email Settings".

Does anyone know the solution to this problem that would allow for us to view images in our emails, rather than HTML versions and links??

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Looks like it has something to do with a .ipd file?

Use the "Manage Internet Email" icon to go to your BIS email setup page. Send the service books from there.

Thanks for the quick response. The BIS page is down, I get error 502: Bad Gateway now. Is there any other way to do this, or do I just have to wait it out?

Default Ok I'm good

Thanks man.
I'm good. I didn't notice it was lower.

but. I'm stuck in a crash and boot loop. I have to get to it when I get home from work.
i did get the right one (for 8100) somewhere after the install it had an error message telling me where the fix is on my hd, had to leave (booty call).
Your instructions were perfect.

The crash and boot loop is usually caused by the media card. There is a file(s) that the new OS doesn't like when it scans the card and it crashes. Reformat the card and then load back your files one folder at a time and try and narrow down what fuile is causing the crash.

The error after installation sounds like one of your databases didn't restore completely. You can restore the backup file manually to get it back.

This download is from IndoSat but will work on ANY carrier's 8100 model BB. (Not 8110, 8120 or 8130)

Is anyone else having trouble downloading this file? IT seems to start OK but then time out after a few mins, and can't get resumed. Any ideas?

Alex
