Hi. I've written a Sudoku game for BB that lets users download puzzles to their BB. The program uses HttpConnection to obtain the new puzzle from the web server. Here is how it connects:
(HttpConnection) Connector.open(url, Connector.READ);
This works most of the time, but some people are getting "unable to access tunnel" exceptions. I've asked and they are not using BES. Upon further examination it seems that in majority of cases they'd need to modify their Options->TCP settings to those provided by their carriers in order to be able to successfully connect to the web server.
What is strange to me is that all of them say that they are able to send messages, send/receive emails and browse Internet on their BB. Do these applications use different method of accessing the Internet? If so, is this method available to my application?
I'd like to be able to catch the exception and try another method of accessing the Internet instead of just giving them an error message and having them call their providers.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
