Folks,

I was so fond of blackberry that I replaced my old blackberry once again with a new 8900 Curve. I did not even bother looking at iPhone.

However, a few days ago, one of my colleagues was doing a show-off with iPhone. I was blown away.

Some things I liked:
1. Clock that shows time from 5 different worldwide locations simultaneously.
2. GPS that shows nearby restaurants, gas stations, etc. Helps when you are traveling on business
3. More readable browser text. With 8900, I always have to zoom in to read it clearly


Are you using any utility that you are fond of?

PS: There were plenty of games on iPhone. Some used motion sensing.

I also have a friend who shows me things on his iPhone. He also admits that the Blackberry is a better phone while the iPhone is a better toy. I am not experienced enough yet to really answer you yet but wanted to give you feedback from iPhone side of my friend.

I have been told that the iPhone is not a good phone, partially because of problems with the AT&T network. A phone is still primarily a phone, not a device to play games (in my mind). There is no question that the iPhone is beautifully designed, has nice applications, and is the better multimedia device. But in my mind the Blackberry is the far better business device.

Some of the applications I like are Google Maps. This allows you to search for businesses based on your location, and they show up on the map. And it is great because the Curve 8900 has built-in GPS.

I also like PageOnce, an application that lets you set up different accounts and view them all in one application. I have my credit card accounts, banking account, cable, cell phone and student loan account all set up. They are updated periodically so I can see all accounts quickly.

Not sure about an app available for showing multiple clocks.

But, Google Maps has great search ability for nearby anything. It will use GPS to determine where you are and Google Maps supports voice searches as well.

Ref the browser - you can always try different browsers that you may like better (Bolt or Opera Mini). I think you will still have to zoom though.

Beyond 411 will do specific genre searches such as "Restaurant". Just enter the zip code of the area you are in and it will conduct the search based on that zip code and start with those locations nearest you.

1) worldMate Live (free) had a world clock feature that can also show 5 clocks.
2) A few GPS tracker that shows restaurants/movies. Poynt is a cool looking one, but Berry411, Windows Live Search, GoogleMap etc all can do
3) Screen in BB8900 is indeed higher resolution than iphone. So, it does read more crisper, but the screen is smaller...

I'm not able to get Windows Live Search running on the 8900 (newer OS), and have read that it is a known issue with the program.

I've had an iphone since one week after launch almost 2 years ago. It is a great phone that is easy to learn and use. Just pick it up and everything makes sense. The 3g has better sound, reception and also has GPS over the first generation.

I've had a blackberry for almost 2 weeks. First was an 8220 and after about a week I traded it in for an 8900. It's a very nice device and does the basics of what I need very well. However, the iphone does soooo much more. The larger screen and the fact that it is a touch screen is something that really makes a difference. That interaction makes the iphone a much more pleasurable experience. Given the chance I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I'll have to stick with the 8900 for now. I'm glad that it is a very capable device.
