Default HELP! Please! Installing the SD Card

Please Login to Remove!

Why is this so hard? Does anyone have any advice? I did a search on this board and did not find one thread that there were problems with installation! I can't be the only one out here! My lock/unlock gate closes fine and locks when empty. When I put a card under it, it won't close down. Like something is holding it up. I have looked and it looks like all the pieces are catching in the right spots, what could be the problem? It is almost like the card is too thick for the slot or something. I have a SanDisk Micro 2GB card. Does anyone have pictures or any advice for me? I wan't to start adding songs!!
Thanks in Advance for any help!

The card slides into the metal lock gate itself when it's opened, not on to the board.

Ahh!! I wouldn't have figured that out! I have had the SIM card in and out and just assumed the SD card would go in the same way! Thank you for your help! Maybe next time I will try the manual! I thought I was doing good searching the boards before I posted!!! Thanks again! OK, one last question now. I did all my setting to on like was instructed, and I go to media and my card is showing up so I am done and ready to go, right? I just never told it to format so I wanted to make sure there wasn't something else I needed to do!

Format the card while in the BB. Go to Options >Advanced Options >Media Card. Click the menu key and select "Format"

Formatting adds all the necessary folders, etc. to make the card work properly.

Ok, I am still having problems. I read through the info from the link you gave me and I followed the instructions. I formated the card and when I click on media on my BB I see the option for Media Card. However, when I go to try to put songs on it, the media card is not listed in DM? Only my device memory is listed, is that right? I noticed on the pictures of the link on option 2 that is the only listed there as well. However, when I did option 1 then tried to find my songs on my BB they are no where to be found! Any ideas?

If "mass storage mode" is set to on then you won't see it Desktop Manager. You can use "My Computer" to drag and drop files to the card. If you turn off Mass Storage mode then it will show in DM. The other option is to install Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 with the new Media manager from Roxio. It's quite nice. It's a big download but worth it if you want to convert video's and pictures for the Pearl.

OK, I think one of my problems was the songs I was putting on were .cda formats. I converted them to .mp3 and did the window drag and drop thing and it was on my media card. I am suppose to have mass storage on, right? Will I need to convert every song I want on there to mp3? Does the new DM do that as well or just pictures and video? I really appreciate all your help! Someday I will know everything I can do with the pearl! About the time it is time to upgrade!

I haven't tried it for converting audio formats. Download it and give it a try. I think you'll like the new Roxio anyway.

It's a little late for this, but here is a thread I created long ago on installing a microsd chip. No one refers to it any longer, but it's here.
