You may have to use a home brewed solution, such as rebroadcasting an Internet stream from your desktop system, in such a manner as to be BB friendly.

I can't remember what the name of it was, but I had an app on my 8820 that you could listen to police and fire channels. DANG, I can't remember it!!!!! It was like MPlayer or something...

Point your BB browser to this address:

http://www.dollars5.com/OTA/mediaPlayer.jad

Then, all you have to do is find the internet address of the scanner you want to listen to and set it up in this app. Pretty cool!

Very cool... I wasn't aware the dollar player had that functionality. I might have to take another look at it as well.

I downloaded http://www.dollars5.com/OTA/mediaPlayer.jad and I am getting an error that states...
"Error starting mediaPlayer:Class 'multiPlayPlayerMainScreen.<private>' ref member out of range."

Any ideas on that ??

Strange...are you going there via your Blackberry Browser? I just downloaded it about 5 seconds before I posted that post above and it downloaded fine. Not sure why you can't. Although after using it, some of the vid files are not playing sound. Maybe try Welcome to Moodio! | Moodio

This is after it's installed, when starting the app.

I don't know about the 8300, but on my 8100, I use Moodio. It streams internet radio stations, but also police/fire/airport and the such. When you add your stations, it'll give you a list of genres. Look under "News" and "Talk". There are already a few there. After that, if you want to add more, go to a site called "ScanAmerica". They have a lot of police/fire/airport live streams. From there, you just copy & paste the URL into your Moodio channels, and you're good to go.
The best part about all this is it's all free.

Good Luck!

I agree. I use Moodio on an 8320 and I have seen some emergency services frequencies listed there. If you know the stream url you can add it to Moodio as well. Very easy site to use.

I'm not sure why I never used Moodio before, now it's a must have!! Great for driving out of range and still listening to your favorite station.

It should be OTA Install Links from your BB browser. There was a missing "s" from the original post. Works good.
