Default Available 8100 Case Roundup

Please Login to Remove!

So here's the problem, I've been trying to find a nice or at least -decent- holster for my 8100. I don't want to spend the next two months waiting for someone to come out with something, because that just means more time for my phone to potentially get scratched up, or worse still, fall out of a pocket. So here's my question to the community - what's out there -now-?

I've seen a few references to cases people are using, but they're scattered around the forums and rather hard to track down, so can we get a list of all the cases that people are finding located here? Also, I'd like to know if any of the cases people link to support the holstering magnet, and if so, how well? Thanks in advance.

I'm using the T-Mobile SDA case, retails for $19.99.
It has a magnet that holds the flap in place, that also acts as a sleeper magnet for the Pearl. At first I was bothered that the case was slightly bigger than the length of the Pearl, but I found it's useful in slipping in a finger to pull the Pearl out. I haven't had any problems with it, at first I was gonna return it and get an OEM holster/case/something from RIM, but I've found that the SDA case is perfectly fine.

I have the following cases:

Tmobile vertical
Tmobile SDA
Tuff as Nuts

I notice Gizmoskin is now advertising one (I had 4 of their cases for my 8700)

No Vaja, Piel Frama, Sena yet.

But the best case is the Tuff as nuts. The magnet is perfect and the leather is thick and tough. Also can be customized. No financial interest. Just a drawer full of cases.

I'm really glad to see the response I'm getting so far, but I'd like a little more information if there is any, about some of these cases. Will the "medium horizontal case" from Office Depot work as a holster sensor? Will the offerings coming from Seidio have holster ability?

I have to admit - I like the look of some of Seidio's options, in particular the idea of a combination rubberized case / belt holster (with magnet) package. I just really wish the option was available on launch. I probably will end up getting two of the Seidio packages if they offer one in a combination like those available for the 7100 at $34.95, but in the short term I'll probably get something like the T-Mobile SDA unless someone has a better option to post a link to.

That looks like a decent case for a RAZR, but not so great for the Pearl. There's no cover to hold the unit in place, and since it's not a BlackBerry case there wouldn't be a magnet. Not bad in a pinch though.

I am using the case I bought (was given) for my 7290.

It's the Blackberry Horrizontal

It fits a little loosely - but stays put - even on my Motorcycle at 70mph...

Default Using Blackberry 8100 case from TMo

I am using the vertical TMo case for 8100. Sleeper magnet is near the top, so only constraint (which I got used to very quickly) is that you have insert BB into case upside down (ie... mute button towards the bottom).

Works well, like it.

Guys,

When I had the 8100 (I switched to the 8700) I would put the 8100 in the TMobile case with the sleeper magnet... It would go off, then as you put it in further, the screen would come back on? Was I doing something wrong??

You did nothing wrong. There is no sleeper magnet in the case. The Blackberry was reacting to the closure magnet on the flap, so when it moved down past the magnet it was like taking the Blackberry out of the case. Putting the Blackberry in upside down will make it react like you want, sleeping in the case and coming awake upon removal.

You will not be sorry. And remember it has the magnet in the right place. Unit goes face towards body while wearing. Best leather ever. Even smells good.

I use the TMO 8100 Holster mentioned here. It works quite well its not a swivel thing but it clips on to your pants and holds the BBP quite nicely. It's good to have IMO. I ordered the Shield Zone (and am impatiently awaiting it) and will get the Siedo case too if its nice and slim and un-fugly. I dropped my BBP today for the first time and nearly shat myself.

I returned the T-Mobile 8100 case for the SDA's as well. At least the sleeper magnet feature from the flap actually puts the device to sleep.

Now if RIM would get their's released. They did have them on shopblackberry.com and now they have seemed to disappear.

I was using the case that comes with 7105T for my pearl.

Big mistake.

While bowling, the ball went into the left gutter & the pearl went into the right.

Luckily no scratches.

I am using the t-mo SDA case as well and the sleeper works (I think display of the BB has to face out) and it's a decent fit for a case that isn't "specially" designed for the BB.

I've had exceptionally poor results with any case that fits tightly over any BB (wallet type with the top flap). Each and every one of them seems to block key access and I'd never go back.

The best fitting and most useful cases for everyday have been the pouches.

The other cases smelled real nice in their original box. Beyond that I had little use for them after a day or two.

To those who have a Nutshell case...

How long did it take for delivery?

I ordered one on 9/25. Still waiting. If I realized they are in New Zealand, woulda used "priority" shipping instead. As it is, I leave my Pearl at home until case comes in. Maybe going to the local tmo store to see about a cheap case in the interim.

Anyway, "Tuff as Nuts" seems like an appropriate name so far...
