Is it possible to hand enter my contacts via PC using Desktop Manager. If so, how?

Usually what people will do is enter their contacts' information in a PIM software such as Outlook and then sync that information to the BlackBerry. I don't think the Desktop Manager has an interface that directly enters in the information to the BlackBerry without synching.

Jeremy is correct (as often he is). There is not an interface to directly enter them into the BlackBerry, but rather you enter or import the data into an application on your PC such as Outlook, Act or Excel and then sync to your BB.
Outlook is the smoothest, easiest I have found.

Sadly, it is also very expensive, if one does not have it available at work.

Too expensive, really, just to purchase for synching w/ your Blackberry.

David, is there any way you can subscribe to a BES or even a Microsoft Exchange server? That way you could enter all your contacts there and then sync them OTA.

BES is a great deal more expensive (especially over time) the MS Outlook.

Outlook Express is free. Absolutely free (with Windows).

Agreed that Outlook Express is free - didn't know that was an option. But Outlook is not free, and not inexpensive.

I've used every release of Office since the start, but I did not upgrade to Office 2007 - and I won't be. Even for an upgrade, it is simply prohibitive. Plus, though I now use Office 2003 Professional, there is no comparative version in Office 2007. Microsoft shuffled around the various pieces of Office and now I would have to upgrade to the "Ultimate" version. Last I checked it was close to $600 retail - for an upgrade! Less expensive retailers online have it for less, but not THAT much less. Still too high. And on top of that I would have to purchase a few of the "pieces separately, as they are no longer included in Office at all. Terrible.

Finally - I really do not like the Ribbon interface. Takes too much screen real estate, and is a poor attempt to make it "Office for Dummies". They claim the previous menu navigation was too difficult for many. I agree, but the new interface is horrible - and they offer no real way to turn it off.

I'm synching with an Exchange Server account for $1.99 monthly. I can deal with that!
