Hello,

I am having a problem with my Blackberry Storm 2 (Verizon USA, with Email and Web data plan):

I am in Europe now. Instead of using Verizon's expensive roaming rates, I purchased a local GSM service with a data plan. But I have been having problems with connecting to internet. Whenever I try to use my browser, I get an error "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection or try again". When I try to use my gmail app, I get "This program requires a working data connection. Please check your signal strength".

Is there an easy way to solve these issues an connect to internet?

Yes, the phone is sim-unlocked. I have no problem making or receiving calls.

I don't know what you mean - how do I check this?

I am only getting edge. I am not interested in Blackberry mail service, just being able to check my web-based emails would be great.

Sounds like the data plan where you are hasn't been activated yet (hence you're seeing lowercase edge).

I'm not sure if this will work on a Verizon device, but is there an APN setting? You'll have to find the one for the provider you're using if so.

Also, you won't be able to use the BB Browser, but may be able to use Opera Mini.
