Default OZ Messenger

Please Login to Remove!

OZ MESSENGER WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT A DATA PLAN UNLESS YOU HAVE T-MOBILE'S FEATURE ENABLER!

I want OZ Messenger on my Blackberry Curve. Don't ask me why I want it. Its a long and annoying story that I don't want to explain. What I will say though is that I want OZ Messenger because it supposedly charges with text instead of needing a data plan. Please help ASAP!

Yes, I understand why you want it. To get it you will need some sort of data plan, not BB Data Plan. You will need to get Opera Mini because BB Browser will not work. Once you get Opera Mini you can download OZ Messenger.
Once you have Opera Mini, APN Settings below:

Or you can shortcut it by using someones SIM card that does have a data plan, just download OZ.

Good luck!

I can connect to wifi. And as far as i know, a data plan is not required for oz messenger. I have unlimited text if that is considered some sort of "data plan". I am getting really pissed off at T-Mobile and Blackberry Tech Support at the moments. Also if you could give me a link that would be nice. Help ASAP please.

So far... I love you!

-It is working but I am connected to wifi. Do I need to be connected to wifi for it to work?

Wow! *Blush*!

If you have SMS on your phone it should work when you are not connected. Give it a shot!

You have no idea how happy i am right now. I think there is a way to get it the messengers that come with the phone working with just the SMS. But the people from T-Mobile do not know how to solve my problem. I think the guy I talked to from Blackberry just told me I needed a data plan because he wanted me to sign up for one so i would have to pay ever MORE money. Thanks again! The only downer is the fact the you can only be logged into one messenger at a time, but oh well.

Well I am glad that you are happy. OZ is the only messenger you can use without a data plan. To use the BB Messenger you will need a BB Data Plan. There is no way around it. You could probably use a data based one, like JiveTalk (Does all of them AIM, Yahoo, etc.) but you are risking huge charges in data. Anyway, good luck with OZ and enjoy!

I recently got OZ messenger on my phone. The only disappointment is that you can only be connected to one messenger at a time. Is it possible to download a copy of OZ and then be able to log on to two messengers?

Default Super Happy

I can not believe that I found this thread. I have been trying to get IM on my Curve without the DATA plan since Sept. Thanks to all on this thread for bringing it up to finding the solution.

Don't thank me, that the lame blackberry tech support. I was *****ing that you needed a data plan and he told me about OZ messenger and how it charges texts. I still think that the messengers that came with the phone count as text, but you have to do extra things to get them working. T-Mobile told me that it is the texting plan it charges. I don't think it needs a data plan because when i first got my phone i was signed on fine for around 2 hours without a data plan.

What I've found with OZ is that you need some type of data plan to get logged in. Then after that the messages are charged via your sms plan. However, there's no way to log in without some type of data.

Pretty bold statement for someone who's been a member here all of two days .

With TMobile you likely have the "feature enabler" on your account which will give you basic data to get apps like that going. It likely won't work with other carriers unless you have some type of data plan.

I loaded it on an unlocked TMo 8100 running on a carrier with no data plan but an unlimited sms plan. It worked fine with my TMo sim (full data plan--it's what I used to download it) but when I put the other sim in the app was there, service books were there but with no data, it wouldn't ever sign in.

You are right though. You are ten times smarter than me with this stuff. I did not mean to sound like an ass when I said that. When connecting to jmirc, does it work the same as OZ Messenger? Also, going back to my other question about OZ Messenger. Is it possible to download a copy of OZ and be able to have MSN Messenger and AIM running at the same time? I tried to download it twice, but it wants to replace it instead of just installing a second one. Any ideas?

You can't install a second instance of the same app.

JiveTalk is really what you want. It uses data but there is a new beta version that works over wifi with no data plan now. However, if you want it while on EDGE you will need a data plan.

HTML Code:
http://www.beejive.com/jt_beta/4.2.1/JiveTalk-Blackberry-pearl.jad
Use your browser (while on wifi since you have no data plan) to go to the link above and download the app.

i downloaded the file from my computer that was provided in a previous post, transferred the .jad file to my bb (via desktop manager), and attempted to download it from there. it starts downloading and then presents me with "download failed" reason being "907 invalid COD file not found". is there some other file that is needed? i'm also on att and i noticed this is tmo oriented, and i currently have no data plan, so this program would come in handy right now. any advice?
